Such a pivotal moment. Had to re-sub since you finally got to this episode. The screams were so worth it, and we all scream along with you guys.

This is the pay off episode!!

So glad I got to rewatch this with you guys, had to watch the full episode. This episode lowkey spurred me out of a mild depression when I first saw it. I had been doing sports in my teens, but somewhere along the way lost that spark, that drive. Seeing Tsukki find his moment just reminded me of that long lost joy of being in a flow state, reading a game, moving your body to its limits and succeeding in overcoming whatever obstacle. Stupid goddamn volleyball anime making a grown 30 year old man cry in his living room! I LOVE IT!

Just when you think you can't love this show anymore... You get blinded by the moon.

my boy tsukki!!!! this is my FAVOURITE episode of the entire show, its so good. theres a reason why he's my favourite character and the whole slow build of his arc over these 3 seasons building up to this is so SO well written also fun fact! apparently in the recordings, all the team yells throughout the show were always excluding tsukkis VA, and he never got to join in until this episode, and I heard that him getting to join in on the yell is part of what made that one point so hype cuz you can really hear the excitement of the whole VA cast getting to include him for once

Tsukki's whole character arc leading up to this moment, chef's kiss.

The creator spent just over 150 chapters in the manga slowly building Tsukishima's character for this payoff, and that made it all the more beautiful. And the fact that the whole team gets more hyped for Tsuki's scream than they did for the point or winning the set because they know what that moment means for Tsuki as a person and a player is so sweet. Usually in anime shows there will be one, maybe two "best boys," a title usually given to someone who isn't the main character, but who is endlessly supportive and who the protagonist could not succeed without. Haikyu is a show chock full of best boys, and Karasuno especially are the best boys of best boys.

Tsukki's moment was so peak man

YESSSSSSSS We've been waiting for this one. Even from a purely technical standpoint it's so HUGE-- The way Tsukishima just kept trying to wear down and irritate Shirabu over and over.... and the rest of the team piled on the pressure without realizing it: like when Kageyama did the return dump, and Hinata's back-attack minus tempo, and Tanaka tooling points off of Shirabu when he helped his blockers.... Tsukishima was watching, taking it all in, and waiting for a pressured Shirabu to make a sub-par toss to Ushijima. Ushijima's characterization thus far has been like Robocop or the Terminator. Unstoppable. Then BOOM. Tsukishima pulls off the first kill-block of the match against Ushijima. Absolutely HUGE moment, even from a purely technical standpoint. Straight up Oikawa levels of Game IQ and Player Headspace awareness. And I haven't even mentioned the emotional significance of that block to Tsukishima's story arc... Just.... Perfection. Ugh, moments like THIS are why I love Haikyu. THIS is why it revitalized my love for anime after a 10 year burnout period.

This was my favorite episode of the series and probably one of my favorite in anime, top 10 for sure. It's like those moments of the cool character doing cool shit. Sukuna activating domain expansion against Mahoraga = Tsukki blocking Wakatoshi in the FINALS imo.

This is something I learned from the comments, but the "a point worth a hundard" is actually something kuroo said during their practice camp in the Manga but it wasn't included in the anime. Tsukki obviously dismissed it at the time When hinata says the "a point worth a hundred", it's confusing if you've only watched the animate because it's clear he's quoting someone or referencing something. Reading those comments made it all make sense

TSUKKI SZN!!!!

Katie

TSUKKI!! I got teary before even starting the episode 😭Such an amazing moment with all the buildup within the episode and of course just over the seasons. I'm glad you two finally got to experience it 💕 Now go rewatch it like 40 times 🤣

Every time I watch this intro and we get to the eagle vs crows imagery and the lightning hits I kinda go "okay calm down, it's high school volleyball". But then when we're in a match, we have moments like these, one point out of 25 but meaning SO much more.

Today's name drop is the victim behind Tsukki's block of Ushiwaka, the 2nd year setter #10, Kenjiro (Wise Second Son) Shirabu (White Cloth). As per the pattern of Shiratorizawa's character names, Shirabu is another onsen district in Yamagata prefecture. Kenjiro is a pretty common name in Japan but I'd like to think he's given the name because of his awareness as the setter, hence the "wise" part, and the setter generally being the "second" one to touch the ball.

I love that you guys have always been Tsuki fans since the start. He's usually treated as a villian till the training camp in season 2- but you guys have always been fans and laughed at his cheekiness. This is one of the best pay offs on the show and Im glad you guys got to experience it. This show does pay-offs really well- so theres soooo much more to come!

Yasser

Never thought that this stupid show would make me cry HECK you Tsuki

mooonflair

the absolute GOAT episode. it makes you love the character, the sport, all sports in general. we all have had a moment like this, but to see him grow into it after what happened with his brother, going after the passion that was brewing inside him... damn
