Kageyama getting mad at other players using practice....to practice lol

Gem

Tanaka instantly telling Kageyama “You could’ve said it in a different way” is such a powerful senpai moment for me. Despite being a notorious goofball, he always never lets disrespect slide.

Ukai explained the "goody-two-shoes" remark best, saying that Kageyama was accommodating the spikers, and not pushing them. Just cause a set is easy, doesn't mean it's the best for that spiker.

This show carefully portrays how even being a ball boy has meaning, along with the importance of proper meals, getting enough sleep, and communication. Unrealistic special moves in other anime are exciting too, but I think this resonates much more with people who’ve played sports.

I always love that Tanaka gets more upset for his teammates than himself.

I feel like the “goody-two shoes” thing got to him. The smug player who said this stated “anyone who can’t hit my set just sucks,” which is a bit of an opposing scenario from Kageyama’s usual “the perfect set for anyone” skill he’s developed in his journey as a player. He will acknowledge anyone and everyone’s skills they bring to a volleyball but maybe being around the best of the best at All-Japan played a bit of a role too here. Maybe he’s craving the same result as he knows his setup is just as good and shouldn’t be a problem to hit thus a bit of the king came out. Kageyama has never had the best people skills and you could say he has been generous so far in being a team player. He’s accommodated everyone and pushed himself as well by doing so. He’s pushed that passionate part of himself to the back burner for so long that you likely think he’s never going back to that again. I don’t think Oikawa was wrong in his assessment of “giving them the set they want,” I think this is just a step past that. I think this was the last piece needed to be addressed for the team. I don’t think “the king” has ever left the building, he’s just been playing nice so far and tucked away. But at least now the team will know how to deal with his tirade if it ever comes again. The team is now more aware of this and will give it back to him if needed.

I think the Goody Two Shoes comment and motivation really does solidify why Oikawa was/is so good as a center. He was more nonchalant/nice about it but he was always subtly pushing his teammates to get out of their comfort zones.
