Ugh this is one of my favorite episodes in the whole show 😭 Tanaka is my favorite Karasuno member. He may not technically be the "best" at anything, but he is consistently reliable, and he is truly so kind and genuine. His mental strength is so admirable and I just adore him ❤️

tanaka the only player in karasuno who was never subbed out and played every match.. THE ONLY ONE

One detail I really love is if you rewatch the second and third seasons you can see Tanaka start to practice the cross shot after seeing players like Bokuto do angled shots during the training camp. He was just quietly working on it for mulitple seasons.

Finally someone who agrees with me about this Opening! it's my favourite! Kudos to you for figuring out right away what Kanoka meant about having her heart broken. I've seen reactors who have to think about it and talk through it first to kinda get it, and some just don't get it at all lol. Tanaka is just the best! The OST when he hit that cutshot is georgous. It's actually a slowed down version of the OST "Omnivorous" that was played during season 2 in the traingcamp arc, where Karasuno took and learned plays and techniques from the other teams . It's also where Tanaka first saw Bokuto doing that cut shot and has been practicing it ever since. Talk about full circle, I love this show soo much!

I love that Bokuto is there watching this match because, despite being one of the top five spikers, his biggest weakness is Tanaka’s greatest strength. Watching Bokuto fall apart from empathizing so hard with the pressure Tanaka is under and then him seeing Tanaka overcome using a technique he learned from watching Bokuto play is part of what makes this show so great. They’re not even teammates, but they’re helping each other grow and learn from each other’s strengths. Tanaka may be “average” at volleyball, but here he is excelling at something one of the top players in the tournament really struggles with.

Honestly this is one of the reasons Haikyuu is the best sports anime, they illustrate the comradery between players, even players not on the same team so well
