First! And finally! After yearssss of waiting, it's happening! Can't wait for this amazing show with you amazing ladies. BTW i STRONGLY suggest you pull out the AoT notebook. EVERYTHING in this show is important if you pay attention especially on rewatches (similar to AoT) and you can actually solve many of the mysteries yourself at times if you notice things like maomao! Edit: The reason it reminds you of frieren is because maybe you THINK either the music or the production (Color palettes) are the same prople that made frieren and violet evergarden. (To be fair I had the same feeling until today, or maybe they're inspired from each other like how rezero\konosuba\mushokuTensei have authors that are best friends and take inspiration from each other..who knows?)

This is the first anime series that I have a head start on you ladies. The chibi art is so funny and cute!

thalia

finally!!! i've waited so long for you to start this series, it's one of my favorites. fun fact about the cat ears: mao means cat in mandarin so our protagonist's name literally means catcat. there will be a lot of kitty references when it comes to her ^^

DelBoogie730

I've heard nothing but rave reviews of this show. But I never got a chance to circle back and watch it. So watching it for the first time with you two is a perfect excuse. I loved the first episode! I'll fight the urge to binge it.

Balu

Evan Call did the Music for Violet Evergarden and Frieren but not for Apothecary. Don't know about the other thing :D Maybe Kiss also got the Frieren Vibe because Frierens VA is the voice for Lady Gyokuyou

Michael Cyr

Yes! I'm so glad this show won the poll. I love Apothecary Diaries! The show is so clever. Though I've only seen season one (on Netflix). I think I'm going to wait until you guys get to season 2 so I can watch it with you.

Thank you so much for clarifying my misconception! It just sounds very familiar especially the endings and the OST in the background. But I totally relate to them either way that this show does give frieren and violet evergarden vibes and something else but I can't put my finger on it!

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

This first aired when Frieren did. They became my 2 favorite animes ever. That was a crazy season of anime

YAYAYAYAY Im so excited for this! Maomao is my absolute favorite female protagonist of all time (and one of my favorite characters in general) I am so so so excited to go on this journey with you guys! Just in time for the next season too to occupy me until it does start releasing lmaooo!!

Just for clarification, An Apothecary is more like a Pharmasist that makes their own drugs and less Doctor or Physician. There is some cross but her background would be more in the herbs how to prepare them. The cross over would come from an apothecary needing to be able to diagnose what is wrong before proscribing the drugs because most drugs are poison in the wrong amount or given for the wrong reason. Love this show and glad it won the poll. I'm happy to see you two are enjoying it so much on the first episode and am ready for the rewatch.

Narasa ja

I'm here for this

HANA NI NATTEEEE!!! This is one of those openings for sure, one good intro for one good anime, looking forward to your reactions. :D

Oh I DIDNT EVEN SEE THIS O.O HELLLLOOOOO LETTSSS GOOOOOO

Tabo51

The characters used for Mao Mao's name is "Cat Cat," hence she tends to have cat-like reactions in her cartoony state. Also, the reason why it reminds you of Frieren is because Lady Gyokuyou's VA is Frieren's VA ;)

So, this is totally random and I do love this anime as well. But I definitely think you two should react to Fruits Basket. It’s a show I thought I’d never actually like to be honest the name was not what I expected for the anime itself and that’s all I’ll say as I hate spoilers myself. So in the future if you find the time to add it in when you can. I’d love to see your reactions to them. I found you both during the live action of One Piece as I’m a huge fan of that as well along with the anime. Watching you two watch the anime of One Piece is an enjoyable experience for me, as well as many others. I love watching it with you both as it gives me the feeling like I’m watching it again for the first time! So, anyway just thought I’d finally recommend something on my own. Fruits Basket was a surprise. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Hopefully you both will as well if you can.
