quick note: jinshi was asking about maomao's weight as a phrasing way of saying "if she healthier now? is she ok?" because in the last batch of episodes, maomao overexerted herself when trying to cure concubine lihua from the makeup poisoning and being awake taking care of her and keeping the steam room etc, so she lost a lot of weight from just being in a sauna non stop and moving all the time without resting. btw fun fact, in the first scene of the first episode, maomao told her dad that she's going to the market to get some resources and clay, because her clay makeup of her freckles was fading, and she got distracted on the way by herbs and got caught lacking lol... The next episode, you may need your notebook to take notes, but you'll be fine eitherway since you're very attentive. The color palettes of this show are amazing. Also, the emotional and stern look on jinshi's face when maomao was telling her story instead of being flamboyant, it hits differently. It's like how zenitsu is always crazed and jumpy and hyperactive, but if he locked in, you feel it... that contrast of mindset/personality switch is done so well with subtle details and facial twitches etc. Even when Jinshi asked maomao for 1 more favor (the steamed mushrooms), you can see maomao's eye twitch subtly of "errrr what do you want from meeee" hahaha, without actually saying it lastly, I can see haylo's gears turning and her tinfoil hat sparkling: we can see her being sus and it's always great content. What i didn't expect was haylo being distracted by the jinshi abs and not reading anything in that scene hahaha.

I love that this show isn't afraid to get DARK on occasion. It's often got a kind of whimsical vibe going on, especially with the chibi animations, but it still takes itself and it's setting quite seriously

If you're gonna correct someone, do it properly. Her name is Gyo-ku-you, not Gyokyo.

Yeah i don't get why so many people say its gyo-kyo. If you wanna shorten it, saying Gyo-ku is closer to being accurate

No, it isn't. The pronunciation is gyo-kyo. In Romaji, 'ou' is a long 'o' sound. The 'u' between 'k' and 'y' is elided.

If you sound the word out syllable by syllable, yes. If you speak as Japanese people normally do, no.

Maomao meant 'iron bladder' as in there will not be a lot of time to relieve herself during this long political party with a lot of customs to worry about. The ginger candy she made does actually help with being able to hold your bladder longer.
