Yes for sure! That's Oda's intention with characters like Pekoms. You have those initial and honest reactions but then you learn more about them and your entire view of them changes. Like Senor Pink!

They can't just say "technology". It always has to be "scientific technology". Every single time someone does something, they gotta shoot in perfect one-at-a-time style, and only when told. Massive exposition dialogue and nothing natural. Excessive use of Germa "superhero" show-off for 5-year-olds. Excessively unnatural and exaggerated screaming orders and exclamations, bland dialogue, and excessive one-by-one "reactions" by the characters. Still animations without actual action. It's all imbecilic. I know they have to spread a chapter over episodes, but if they had any pride, they'd fill in events and animations. Being bad is one thing, but One Piece is so horrifying that it's unbelievable it even exists in its post-Time Skip form. One Piece was NOT like this before Time Skip. "Embarrassing" is an understatement. We're really lucky that there are folks who see the deeper meanings found in the show, no matter how pathetically it has been produced. The studio needs to get sorted.
