I love how much fun you two have when discussing this show. You spent nearly identical time discussing the mysteries of this episode and more general stuff as the watch of the episode itself. And Kiss at 23:48 just making the planets with her hands had me laughing so much.

The use of machines are so interesting. I still have more to learn in getting the names down but it’s kind of like a play on the Japanese takeover. The technology brought in by invaders was too great to overpower so the Japanese way of life had to give in and change drastically. Like all traditional systems that were strict wouldn’t matter anymore. Anyone who was royal before would be a commoner like any other. And regardless of the massive advance in technology there were still people trying to fight back for their traditional way of life. They would die with the honor they knew. Geass is just taking a step further by making it really good tech robots against a bit of outdated or standard machines.
