I'll edit this comment with my answers to your questions after my watch :) the resurrection medicine is basically "anesthesia" , similar to the pufferfish and thornapple thing that makes your heart beat drop low and fall asleep and looks like you're dead but not. That's actually a real world thing , just diffferent name for the sake of an anime :)

It's mostly so he doesn't physically develop in a way that would show he isn't a eunuch, the emperor knows that his son is loyal to him and wouldn't actually mess with his concubines

crunchyroll just fumbling with subtitles every single day... I even had to recommend many of my reactors that I'm a moderator for, to move to netflix for the first episode of season 3 for apothecary, just because crunchy literally would not show subtitles or show super fast subtitles that the goddamn Flash himself would struggle to read on time, and/or blatantly obvious AI generations without context... disappointed from crunchy considering how much i used to praise them... I actually wish they were hiring properly in the engineering department for remote positions, considering i'm job hunting and i would probably do a better job improving this quality degradation

After watching this episode I interpreted it as Jinshi is the crown prince because he's the emperor's brother. So as long as the emperor doesn't have any sons, I think the emperor position goes to the next closest male relative to the emperor which right now is his "brother" Jinshi. That's why Jinshi wants him to have a son because then he's off the hook.

i like to think that it's some sort of testosterone suppressant and eostrogen booster to suppress his "manhood" and look more femine like. Not to overshare, but for example, I have always had low T, so i dont shave as often as most of my peers my age, so maybe it's something like that based on my own experiences. So in other words, Haylo is right with her theories right after i think

When will you guys watch the intro? we're already past all of episodes that it could have spoiled, and the best part of this intro is how many hints that only make sense after seeing the episode, understanding the message of the intro slightly better with each watch through.

this is correct with the small nitpick of wording: jinshi THINKs of himself as the emperor's younger brother. Whether this is true or false, it's unclear in the show so far outside of the crackpot theory that maomao has about ahduo's baby being swapped. but in both cases, he's looking for another crown prince to take the mantle for some reason. The show doesn't ever talk from an omniscient "factual" perspective. It only ever shows us the "facts" from the perspective of the characters, so they're always biased and potentailly unreliable narration. Which makes the show more intriguing when you see the same event or lore from different perspectives of people who know different things :)

@mayumi small nitpick, as far as the emperor and jinshi and anyone knows, he's the emperor's yougner brother, not his son, unless maomao's crackpot theory about ah-duo's baby being swapped. We the audience know things that the characters do not

well i THINK that crunchyroll's S3 E1 got tweaked a bit when i saw it on AliciaxDeath's reaction, even though she had the crunchyroll "Wording" of thigns, but they fixed the uber-fast and missing translations... but still, for it to take nearly a full week after the fact to fix it when reactors are trying to catch the hype wave, that's inexcusable.

So, Jinshi already knew that he is the "crown prince," but not because he is Ah-Dou's and the emperor's son but because he is the emperor's "little brother." The Jinshi name is like an alias of his true identity; that's why he kept on mentioning his name as the "24-year-old eunuch, Jinshi." If someone from the concubines gives birth to a son, then his title "crown prince" will be given to the "firstborn son of the emperor."

Yes that's why brother is in quotes. I was keeping the wording in line with what's been shown in the show up to this point.
