Luffy being able to say that Ace died & wont be coming back shows his growth as a character. We saw how vulnerable he was after the paramount war. He basically wanted to give up. Fast forward 2 years later, he's at a point in his life where he's fully accepted it. I am sure during those 2 years of training, it was still painful for him to accept it. But he's able to move forward w/out the traumatic event holding him back. Because of his traumatic experience w/dealing w/ his grief, Luffy being emotionally aware & intelligent, he recognized Tama was dealing w/the news in her own way & dealing w/the grief of losing Ace. So he didn't want to mention that they were brothers knowing this news was very fresh to her. Very strong character growth from Luffy

A quick reminder about information given about Kitetsu swords and sword grades in Logue Town: 12 Supreme Grade Swords e.g. Mihawk's Yoru 21 Great Blade Swords e.g. Wado Ichimonji 50 Skillful Grade Swords e.g. Zoro's destroyed Yubashiri ?? Grade Swords e.g. Zoro's Kitetsu III (Even Grade Swords are way better than normal swords without a rank) All of the Kitetsu swords are said to be cursed and bring death upon anyone who wields them. Zoro got the Sandai Kitetsu (aka Kitetsu III) back in Loguetown and Tashigi explained that there is also the Nidai Kitetsu (Kitetsu II), one of the 21 Great Blade Swords, which Luffy just took with him. The best of them is the Shodai Kitetsu, which is said to be one of the 12 Supreme Grade Swords.

The Nidai Kitetsu (Kitetsu II) is classified as an Excellent Grade sword (Ō Wazamono) as Hitetsu said. It is TWO grades higher than Zoro's current Sandai Kitetsu (cursed sword, yōtō, like the previous 2 Kitetsus). Hitetsu mentioned the 50 Ryo Wazamono, Fine Grade swords. Sandai Kitetsu is just Wazamono, standard grade, which is below the 50 Fine Grades. Shusui is a 21 Excellent Grade swords & a permanent Black Blade (Kokutō). Wado Ichimonji is classified as one of the Excellent Grade swords.

Fun Fact: Ace learned to make a hat —- another one of those small things that Oda weaves into his story. Ace and Oars Jr’s hat (Episode 464 - released August 2010) and now this reveal Episode 897 released August 2019. That’s 9 years apart! He is G-Oda! 👏
