I dont think they were sitting with the emperor. If memory serves from Season 1, it might be Shishu? According to Jinshi's explanation during the blue roses event, it's the high ranking official that used to work back in the previous emperess era that even the emperor doesn't look in the eyes? Loulan's father? (I actually do not know, this is just a guess even though i've seen this show many times, the "stylized" character design there was very intentionally blurry). But yes, Gaoshun and Jinshi tend to ask maomao to solve things while omitting details OR masking something as something else to see if she comes up to the same theories or conclusions as them without a biased opinion (Which they would have). So applying that theory: gaoshun is probably asking to see if the guest room that those supposed story girls would have been secure and observed properly or if they left room for error for one of the girls to go out and do something bad like getting pregnant.

Now i'm curious how tall you two are? 175cm is tall for a woman even now, much less hundreds of years ago in ancient China 🤣

Yeah looks like Shishou to me

The imprisoned-sisters story is so odd, more like a logic puzzle than like something you would expect to happen in real life. I wonder if the envoys are doing the same thing Lakan was doing to Jinshi before? "Oh, I heard this story, I wonder how that could have happened, what do you think?" "I'd really like to (see blue roses) meet the moon fairy. You can arrange that, can't you?"

I'm also curious about this, especially since they played sports too.
