This show doesn't let up once it gets going and with two episodes to go for the season how speechless will you be. This is a great week and next week will be great as well.

Yeah this anime just does not stop when it comes to mind blowing.

I first watched this like... 17 years ago? I watched season 2 first because my english wasn't very good and I couldn't tell, because I figured it's just a weird way to tell the story, what with just assuming I'd know stuff and reconstructing it from context clues alone. Watched it many times in the years after because its such a ride, even figured out there is a season 1! Yet I completely forgot how this show just NEVER lets up and how important the school festival episodes are, just to get a breather, lul. Edit: "Compelling" is a good word I found for that feeling, where you wanna keep watching but none of it is fun to watch, but you need to keep watching!

It’s crazy to think about the pace of this show when it was anime only. The writers were on some shii.

I've had that laugh as a ringtone for years now

You can really see Lelouch's influence over the character Eren Jeager after that last speech

Moments like this are why I love that Code Geass does the slice-of-life school moments. I've seen some people complain about it, say that it's boring compared to the main plot, or that it causes tonal whiplash. But that sense of a normal life and a status quo is what makes it so intense every time the show blows it all to bits. Lelouch literally tearing the city down hits all the harder because we have that feeling of normalcy behind it, knowing a group of characters who have nothing to do with the war and the political intrigue, just there being a group of friends. We feel nostalgia for the simple times like chasing a cat around or making a giant pizza. And what it ultimately drives home is how much war truly affects people's lives. If the show only included the serious parts, the plot of Zero and the black knights, it would be so easy to dissociate that violence from what it actually causes. But instead, we get Shirley's dad's death and her resulting trauma. We get the horrible enemy general who is actually just a big sister trying to protect her loved ones in a world that forces her to be hard. And now we aren't even sure if everyone in our friend group will survive as the war comes to their doorstep. So here we are, the rebellion is finally poised to knock Britannia out, we should be cheering, this is what we wanted the whole time, isn't? it But we aren't, because the show has gone to such lengths to show us that war destroys everything we hold dear. Britannia has done horrible things, but the people of Britannia, like Nunnaly, Shirley, Rivalz, and Milly, are just normal people who want to live normal lives, and the process of bringing justice to Britannia puts their lives in front of a steam roller. It's not happy and victorious, it's just kind of shocking and makes you wish none of it needed to happen.

Calm down, there is no comparing them. There are thousands of characters like this created in this time period. Eren has anyway totally different psychological villain route from Lelouch.
