This one picks up right where the last solar system generator build left off. I'm taking the same planet and asteroid belt bundles and adding closures into the mix so you're no longer stuck generating round planets, you can define any shape you want, right from the bundle itself. I walk through swapping the hardcoded icosphere for an Evaluate Closure node, passing the whole planet bundle in so you can pull any data point you need, setting up a fallback so planets without a custom closure just default to a sphere, and then building an actual square planet as a working example. It's a good look at how closures let you push the "how do I build this" logic out of your core nodes and into your data , so your generator stays clean no matter how weird your planets get.

The updated .blend file for this build is attached below for you to download and dig through. Let me know what shapes you end up throwing into your own solar systems.

Part 2: How I Made My Solar System Generator Infinitely Customizable with Closures

In this follow-up to my solar system generator build, I show you how to take that project even further using closures in Geometry Nodes. We pick up right where the last video left of, planets and asteroid belts defined as typed bundles, and I walk through how to swap out the hardcoded icosphere generation for an Evaluate Closure node, letting each planet's bundle carry its own "template" for how it should be built. You'll see how to pass the full planet bundle into a closure so you can reference any of its data points, set up a fallback so planets without a custom closure still default to a sphere, and then build a fully custom square planet just by grouping a few nodes and plugging it in. The bigger idea here is declarative design: pushing the specifics of "how" something is generated up and out of your core nodes and into the data itself, so your solar system node never needs to know whether a planet is round, square, or something stranger. ------------- Get the source file, support the channel, and get more free stuff via my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/johnnymatthews #Blender3D #GeometryNodes #BlenderTutorial #B3D #ProceduralGeneration #BlenderClosures #DeclarativeProgramming #3DArt #BlenderCommunity #SolarSystemGenerator #DigitalArt #BlenderNodes #CGI #Blender5 #ProceduralArt 00:00 - Intro 00:27 - Recap 02:50 - Using Closures with Bundles
