Character sketch WIPS- help me pick colors! :D (Patreon)

Happy Monday Ali cats, I hope you’re having a great day as you’re reading this :) For me, well, I stayed up all night drawing 😂 I should have a ramble up for you tomorrow night…err, tonight? My sleep schedule (forgive me 😭 lol). I just need to edit out some sneezes I did beforehand, pollen outside is terrible 💀

I thought it would be fun to show you all the characters I’m currently working on and ask what color patterns you think would look good! First is a cute plant girl who wants to give you lots of attention. Not sure how I feel about the roots going up her legs but we’ll see as it goes lol. Second is the upcoming ferret character who of course likes to steal for here on Patreon! Lastly is a gentle vampire dentist :P

I feel you with the sleep schedule I’m constantly getting distracted near bedtime and end up doing random stuff at 5 am tonight that ended up being watching like 8 lore videos about dmc after finishing the anime lol. Well for the plant girl her roots could be a brownish woodlike color that fades into a green like she really is growing out of the ground and for the blooms something like black geranium phaeum could look really nice maybe with some of the flowers colors mixed in here and there. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the traditional fur colors for a ferret but i think a dark blue ferret kinda like the niffler from fantastic beasts would be adorable and they both like to steal so it would be fitting. For the vampire dentist you can’t go wrong with the classic black and bloodred but seeing as she is a dentist what about more of a medical grey with some toothpaste mint and gum pinks. Idk if any of my suggestions really make any sense but I figured I’d offer them I’m sure they will all come out fantastic regardless of how you decide to draw them also I really enjoy dentist asmr so seeing another one from you is awesome your shark dentist audio is one of my favorites. Well I hope you have an exemplary Monday.

Fingers crossed your allergies ease up soon - otherwise we might have to scold the plant girl for releasing too much pollen. >:( Jokes aside, all the sketches look really cute so far! Super excited to see how they evolve. :3 For the plant girl, I think earthy tones would really bring out her charm (I know, bold choice! xP). The roots might look great in a deep reddish-brown, kind of like cherry wood or even a mahogany hue. For contrast, a leaf green top would pair nicely - and for her hair, I'd love to see something soft and magical like light pink, lavender, or even a gentle rose tone. Maybe even a pale red, as long as it's subtle and doesn't overpower the rest of the design. The ferret girl gives off fun, mischievous energy - so a sable or dark silver palette could be super fitting. I could also see a mix of cream and mocha tones, especially in her hair. And if she ends up Furret-inspired? Absolutely here for it. xD As for the vampire dentist, white, platinum, or icy silver hair feels like a must - it would give her that elegant charm. For her outfit, I'd go with soft blues or something in the navy range - clean, professional, and cool. Maybe even a touch of burgundy for a more refined feel? Hope you don't mind the extra detail - I had a lot of fun looking up colors and imagining the combos! So thanks for that. :D

Ya know Ali... haven't you commented on my sleep schedule when I mentioned it was bad? Tsk tsk tsk :P hope you get it fixed though! And hope the allergies get better!! Still plenty of pollen where I'm at I'm NC, but thankfully it's not the kind I have issues with. Hmm... for the colors, I think I have to agree with Kraiden, that's what I was thinking as well!

Bless, getting a consistent sleep schedule is the fucking dream, innit? Wish my logical brain could just say "no we do my plan now and get to sleep on time for once" and the rest of me is like "yessir shutting down now sir". Instead it's like "ok but what if we played a few more games of mahjong and then did some deckbuilding thought experiments for three hours?" Can totally relate to not being able to sleep on time... But get yourself some good rest! Do as I say and not as I do and all that, lol Re: colors, I love color coordinating! For the ferret, usually I'd say you can't go wrong with natural, gentle shades of brown cause it's true, but if she's out here stealin our shit, a darker scheme might fit her personality better, maybe a sort of night-sky shade of almost-black for her hair and ears, and something that makes her eyes sparkly mischeviously, maybe a dark amber with smaller, sharp bright highlights? It's super easy to say lots of greens and browns for the dryad girl, but I think in the spirit of springtime, some splashes of color for her less-rooty parts (that sounds almost giggle-worthy when I say it out loud, haha) go even better. I like Kraiden's idea of pink or softer-colored hair, it almost evokes cherry blossoms a bit I think. This may be a bit of a deep cut, but giving her a bit of a darker skin tone might be pretty eye-catching, especially if you do do a lighter hair color. And def keep the roots going up her legs, it's a super unique and fun way to do leggings! The vampire dentist's base design is just gentle and timeless, I don't think there is an incorrect answer here that would make me not like her. So just my personal first idea that came to mind for me that I like is reddish eyes, kinda-pale skin, silver hair, and a dark outfit. But like I said, nothing would go wrong here.

Haha, what is sleep anyway? Time isn't even real. All creatures of the night understand that the only viable option is to run until we crash. :3 Very cute sketches! Seems like you're in a bit of a mood recently, huh? Venturing back towards a bit of NSFW. :p I tend to be a bit more in the modest camp myself but I always appreciate all your work~! For the plant girl, I can't help but always mentally go straight to the classic Alraune aesthetic, but I remember at one point seeing an illustration done where the flowers had a sort of black and gold halo effect going on, and it was really quite striking... Though I've always been partial to the colour scheme of Starlette Lilies, so maybe that's why it stuck with me? x3 For the little ferret.. I love all ferrets. Lol. But of course I have to think back to the precious baby I had in my younger years. She was a grey and white blaze-pattern ferret and just the cutest thing. Grey might not be a very 'creative' colour but in my mind it just has such a soft quality when used carefully. ❤️ For the vampire.. Hm.. I always enjoy your incorportation of gentler shades of purples, lilacs, and those tones. Maybe something along those lines for an accessory or two, while leaning into the traditional white/red for the main pallette? Granted, I always think of vampires as being "Stylish" in whatever era they exist in, so going a vastly different route in terms of street clothes could be totally valid. Go with what vibes, honestly, there's a thousand reasons I'm not an artist hahaha! Everything I say should be highly vetted and dosed with salt. x3

Honestly though my sleep schedule has probably been normal only a handful of weeks out of my entire life so I hard relate to that lol All the sketches look cute as hell though! I think the root-legs are a sick idea, and I'm excited for the ferret girl audio. Looking forward to what you do with her!
