Happy Saturday everyone!

Hope you all have some time this weekend to fit in some gesture drawing somewhere.

Something new I am planning to add to our Patreon content… an Artist Study Series.

What is this?

Just like we look at model photo reference to practice our drawing, it can also be an insightful practice to look at other artists work.

Not to copy of course but more to observe, analyze, study, learn and then take that back to own practice in the life ‘room’.

Artists have been doing this for centuries and it’s a great way to add to your drawing toolbox.

  • What do you think?
  • Would you find this interesting?
  • Have you done it before?
  • What artists work do you admire?

I have some artists in mind to kick us off, but I would love your suggestions!

Artists of all types are welcome!

Simone

I just watched the first artist study video. Very interesting. On the photo i also see a book about Egon Schiele. Are you doing a study of his work too? I would appreciate that very much. Another suggestion could be Kim Jung Gi (the less dynamic portraits), Alphonse Mucha or even Richard Diebenkorn (when you cover light and shadow too)

Thanks for the recommendations Simone! I've been wanting to do a Schiele one for a while, so he may be the next one!
