How to Draw: Shoulder Girdle Anatomy (Patreon)
Content
Ask and ye shall receive!
After the popularity of the first anatomy video focused on the legs, you guys asked for another video but this time focused on the infamous shoulder girdle!
Not an easy part of the anatomy to understand and not an easy part to draw. I would definitely say it is the hardest thing to draw.
But not impossible!
Just like everything, we can take our time, look to our anatomy books to support us and break it down into bite size pieces, simplify the focus, understand the function and then rebuild with the knowledge we have gained along the way.
And that is what I have done in this video for you.
We start by looked waaaay inside at the skeleton, what bones are we dealing with.
- clavicle
- scapula
- humerus
Then we explore the function of this part of the anatomy, what does it do and how does it move?
- arm rotation
- strength
- protection
Once we've got that under our belt, we can learn the rules of the muscles, where they insert and originate, how they flex to move the skeleton.
- trapezius
- deltoids
- pectorals
- rotator cuff muscles ( infraspinatus / teres major / teres minor )
And then the pièce de résistance.... the gesture lines!
(Actually, this part will be coming in the next realtime gesture drawing video...so come back next Monday!)
But in the meantime, get practicing, learn the anatomy, learn the connection points and the range of motion. Look at yourself in the mirror, or look at someone else, prod them, examine them.
- What did you think of the video?
- Did it make your understanding of the shoulder girdle any easier?
- What is the most challenging muscle for you?
