Okay, people… this one is SO satisfying! 😍

For our Autumn in the Making weekend challenge, I asked you to find three objects that remind you of fall and turn them into a painted pattern. Now I’m showing you exactly how I took my three little pumpkins and turned them into a repeating pattern using four simple squares of paper.

If you’ve never made a repeating pattern before, don’t let the idea of it intimidate you! I actually recommend starting super simple. Try circles, leaves, stars, hearts, dots, little squiggles—anything that’s easy to draw and paint. Your first pattern is just practice, and there is something ridiculously satisfying about seeing those little pieces come together and suddenly… TA-DA! You have a pattern! ✨

Once you get the hang of the process, start challenging yourself with more complicated objects. Flowers, birds, mushrooms, pumpkins, garden treasures… whatever catches your eye!

The best part? You may start looking at EVERYTHING around you and thinking, “Hmmm… I wonder if I could make a pattern out of that?” 😂

Paid members: I’ll be posting your bonus content for this tutorial later this afternoon, so keep an eye out!

Now grab some paper and paint and give it a try. I would LOVE to see what you come up with! 🍁🎨

Happy pattern-making, my friends! 💕

🍁 How to Make a Repeating Pattern | Easy Fall Pumpkin Art for Beginners 🎃

Have you ever looked at a few ordinary objects and thought, “Hmmmm… I could turn that into art”? Well, that’s exactly what we’re doing! 🍂🎃 For this weekend’s Autumn in the Making mini-challenge, I asked my patrons to find three objects that remind them of fall and turn those objects into a painted pattern. In this tutorial, I’m using three different pumpkins as my inspiration and showing you how to turn them into a fun repeating pattern using four square pieces of paper that are exactly the same size. You don’t need fancy software or complicated design skills. Just some markers, paper, your fall-inspired objects, and a willingness to play! This is a great beginner-friendly art exercise for anyone interested in pattern design, surface pattern design, illustration, painting, or simply playing with their art supplies. And remember: your pattern doesn't have to be perfect. We're artists, not wallpaper factories. 😉 So grab three things that make you think of fall and let's see what kind of pattern you can create! Happy painting, my friends! 🌻 SUPPLIES: Arrtx Acrlic Markers: https://link.amazon/B06TIS0q1 Paper: https://link.amazon/A02ols24i Music: Epidemic Sound If you buy from a link above, I may get a small commission at no extra cost to you.
