Today's painting has a special little story behind it! ❤️

Before we head to the art table, I'm sharing a sweet visit with Lucy, my OG raccoon and the very first little raccoon who started coming around to visit me. She's the one who started this whole raccoon-loving adventure! In the video, you'll get to see her come right up and take a peanut butter sandwich from my hand. I still get a kick out of those little moments!

Lucy was the inspiration for today's painting, so I thought it was only fitting to give her a place of honor surrounded by a wreath of colorful autumn leaves. A little woodland portrait with a whole lot of personality!

There's also a fun painting lesson tucked into this one. We're making black without using black paint! Instead, I'll show you how I mix rich, deep blues and browns to create a beautiful dark color. It's a great little color-mixing trick to add to your artistic toolbox.

So grab a cozy drink, settle in, and come paint along with me!

I hope you enjoy meeting Lucy (or visiting with her again) as much as I enjoyed painting her.

Thanks for being here, supporting my little creative corner of the world, and sharing in all the art, garden adventures, and woodland shenanigans!

Happy Painting, Friends! ❤️

Meet Lucy! Painting Inspiration From My Favorite Raccoon in Watercolor (No Black Paint!)

Meet Lucy, my OG raccoon! ❤️ She's the very first raccoon who started visiting me, and the little girl who began my love affair with these clever, curious woodland visitors. In today's video, I'm sharing a sweet little moment with Lucy as she comes right up to take a peanut butter sandwich from my hand! She's also the inspiration behind today's painting. After our little visit, we're heading to the art table to paint an adorable raccoon nestled inside a wreath of colorful autumn leaves. But here's a little painting secret… we're not using any black paint! Instead, I'll show you how to mix a beautiful, rich, deep black using blue and brown. It's a wonderful way to create your own dark neutrals, add depth to your paintings, and discover just how much you can do with the colors already on your palette. Whether you're a beginner or a longtime watercolor enthusiast, grab your paints, settle in with something cozy, and let's paint a little woodland whimsy together! I hope this painting brings a little autumn magic to your day and reminds you that sometimes the best art inspiration comes from the little visitors right outside our doors.
