I think this may be my favourite Disney Renaissance film! Absolutely incredible music, characters and a beautiful story about the strength and determination of a woman in Imperial China! Enjoy :)

My favorite movie by far out of all Disney movies. My mom said when I was a child and she got me this movie, I would replay this on loop.

On OF my favorites 🥰🥰🥰 Make a man out of you I'm singing since my childhood . But my favorite remains still Pocahontas 🥲

Definitely a stand out of the Disney catalogue! This might be the first movie I remember seeing in theaters. Was probably 6 or 7, but every moment--from Mulan's "transformation" montage to the war and avalanche--just rocked my little mind. An experience that stayed with me for sure.

Fun fact mulans name fa ping means flower vase or a term used for a gay person it’s why Shang was confused about the name mulan gave

Mulan was my favorite too! Tied with Beauty and the Beast ❤️

Also.. A thing I always loved about this, is that Shan Yu doesn't discriminate against Mulan, when he figures out that she was the soldier who started the avalanche... He just says "The soldier from the Mountains"... Because female warriors were common among the Huns :)

Damn, I can't believe you never watched this movie. Not to be rude or anything, I'm just genuinely surprised because I'm only a few years older than you and I have seen this classic a lot of times. Guess you didn't get to see a lot of Disney classics while growing up but it's never late for greatness and it's been a while since last time I watched it, so let's go!

This is also one of my all time favourite movies. When it comes to the renessance, it is by far my favourite. I really love how her motivation was never "A woman is just as capable as a man", but to save her father, and bring honor to the family. It was kind of a side product that she proved that. I also really enjoy, how we see Mulan being super creative in her thinking from the get-go by having the dog help with chores, and later with fetching the arrow, so when she finds a creative solution later in the movie, it's so natural, and we as an audience, totally believe that she would come up with a crazy plan like that, because we have already seen her do it before. I just really love this movie. It was my childhood, and i watched it more times than I can remember. I would really love to see your reaction to: "Prince of Egypt" by dreamworks and "Dumbo" from 1941 I believe by Disney. I would also love a reaction to the series "The good place" Keep up the good work.

Li Shang was like "fuck, the guy I liked happens to be a girl and I was being gay for nothing!" 🤣

When you watched ATLA, I knew then you'd never seen this movie, cause you would've said something about his voice back then lol

Yeah, it's sad Mulan has to redeem herself for single-handedly wiping out almost the entire forces of the Huns and saving our forces but that's how things were xD.

Beezy Queen

i interpret the “be a man” scene differently. and i think ur glossing over the physical capabilities she does gain during that montage (running ahead of the pack; landing blows during sparring). i think it’s about the similarities between men and women that the culture rejected. like— at the end of the movie they play the song again when the guys crossdress as women, and you said something like “nothing more masculine than embracing ur femininity.” i feel like the movie was saying mulan embracing her masculinity was not subtracting from her femininity. so it’s all about how men and women are in parts one and the same, not about how they are innately different.

Rhetorical Thrill

Mulan is one that I liked as a kid, but LOVE as an adult. I relate so much to the feeling of not belonging, or that what the world expects of you is not right for you. And who doesn't love a good training montage???

Shannen Den Hartog

Mulan is legit one of my favorite movies out there, for the points you point out. She has to work to gain respect, just as any other guy would in the army at that time. I am enjoying watching these movies with you, like a blast from the past while seeing a buddy react to it for the first time! Keep doing what you're doing!

Enjoyed this 😊 you have some deep insights and compassion and that’s wonderful 😊 keep it up

Loved the reaction, don't know if you've watched it yet but Brother Bear is another amazing Disney movie that you should definitely put on the list to watch.

I love that you noticed the makeup thing in the beginning xD and yes, it's definitely not thats easy ^^ thank you for this wonderful reaction

My favorite Disney movie. I always get chills when the emperor (then everyone else) bows to her.

Thank you so much for watching and reacting to this movie! It's one of my childhood favorites, I used to watch it SO often with my dad. And still it stands as one of the best of the best today. It was really fun to watch it with you like this, and to hear your thoughts about it. I'm glad you love it as much as I do!

Stephanie

New marshmallow here! I've been enjoying your videos on YouTube. It's nice watching movies with you.

This was the first movie I saw in the cinema. My mom took me when I was a child, so I have especially fond memories of it 😊

Great reaction! I love this movie. I’m a huge fan of ”ER”, and Mulan’s voice actress (Ming-Na Wen) was on that show for several seasons. She was just as great there. My personal favourite ”I want” song from the 90s is ”Reflection”, and Lea Salonga sings it so beautifully. So much to love with this film. One thing that kind of makes me raise an eyebrow though is Mulan saying to Shang: ”You said you trusted Ping. Why is Mulan any different?” Well maybe because Mulan had been lying to him the entire time, and dishonoured him though the eyes of their culture. That might have something to do with it.

One of my favorite Disney movies too. :)

I loved this reaction! This is definitely one of my top Disney movies and "Be a Man" might be my absolute favorite Disney song. I just love that a woman kicked butt and in the end was recognized for her strengths without having to rely on gender.

Maike_Staytiny

fun fact about this movie: it's in the top 5 of Disney movies with the most deaths with 1468 kills, from which 1048 are the hun soldiers killed in the avalanche Mulan caused, making her the Disney princess with the most kills. The Disney movie with the most deaths is Disney's Dinosaurs with over 300K deaths. it's my personal favorite Disney movie, very well done, nice story and so many funny characters. You'd love it! Please consider watching it😊

One of my all time favorite Disney movies! No matter how many times I've seen this (which is A LOT), I still choke up and or cry at 3 scenes - watching her connect the dots regarding the arrow issue and being the victor, when the emperor and everyone bows to HER, when her father barely looks at the gifts to honor the fa family and just pulls her into the fiercest hug and tells his daughter she is his greatest honor.

Windy

Thanks 4 the full reaction movie, hope you can watch Mulan 2, really looking forward to it, cheers mate 🥳🥂

Savannah Miller

Such a great movie and reaction! I highly suggest watching the 2nd one!

Marionette

One of my favorite Disney films. I loved the old 2D hand drawn animations.
