It's funny, I didn't realize the DVD versions (which is how I'm used to seeing it) have so much deleted footage. They actually show the part where Monica gives Emily the idea to postpone the wedding, and the parts with Phoebe and the housekeeper and Rachel with the airline ticket agent go on longer 🤣

I cannot tell you how long I have been waiting for your reaction to the finale, especially the wedding and Chandler & Monica! It's arguably one of the best finales on any TV show ever. Imagine having to wait months after that cliffhanger! I have been smiling and laughing like an idiot for every time you mentioned Chandler and Monica possibly being together throghout the season 😂 They even hinted at it back in S1 in the episode where Carol gave birth to Ben (Sidenote: Isn't it odd that Ben wasn't at the wedding?) and Chandler suggested they get married if neither of them are married by the time they're 40. Then of course the S3 finale/S4 premierr. But the actors' chemistry was first really recognised in S2E7 "The One Where Ross Finds Out" where Monica becomes Chandler's personal trainer. Watching back they were obviously planning to set them up but the way it happened was unexpected! Also, Rachel has often times been shown as quite selfish, such as going to London with the intention of ruining Ross' wedding. But when she sees Ross & Emily together and decides not to say anything, that is the most selfless thing she's ever done. Fun facts: While Ross' "I take thee Rachel" was not exactly improvised on the spot, it wasn't originally in the script. The idea came when David Schwimmer messed up a line in an earlier scene. They had no idea how to end the wedding until that moment. The scene with the Chandler and Monica reveal, Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox had to hold the same position for 27 seconds and then re-shoot the scene because the audience screamed for such a long time. All the outdoor scenes were filmed on location in London while the indoor scenes were filmed in front of a British studio audience. When filming ran late one evening the production team ordered pizzas for the audience. The set used for Ross and Emily's wedding is the set that was used for Carol and Susan's wedding. It would also inspire the location of David and Victoria Beckham's IRL wedding. Before these episodes aired, Elliott Gould (Jack, Ross & Monica's dad) accidentally let it slip that Rachel would turn up at the wedding, which upset creator/writer Marta Kauffman. Lisa Kudrow gave birth to her son, Julian, on May 7th 1998, the same day episode 23 aired. Guest stars/cameos: The woman in Joey's video complimenting his hat is Sarah 'Fergie' Ferguson, also known as the former Duchess of York. She was married to Prince Andrew (King Charles' brother aka the predator) and is the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The hat salesman is played by Sir Richard Branson, the man who created the Virgin Group (Virgin Records, Virgin Atlantic Airways, etc.). The plane Rachel is on is from Virgin Airlines. The man coughing in front of Joey and Chandler on the bus is show creator and director Kevin Bright and the woman sat behind Chandler is fellow creator Marta Kauffman. Olivia Williams who plays Felicity, the bridesmaid Joey hooks up with, played Bruce Willis' wife in The Sixth Sense. Hugh Laurie (the guy on the plane) was in House but also the live action 101 Dalmatians and Stuart Little. I grew up with those movies. He absolutely killed it in this cameo!

It’s true that the creators of the show didn’t know how they wanted to end the season and then while filming an earlier episode, David Schwimmer accidentally said Rachel instead of Emily and that’s when they thought that is the way to end it. I remember watching this live and had to wait for months until season 5 I think their thought process was that even though Ross loves Emily, subconsciously he always envisioned himself marrying Rachel and so it may have been an automatic response from him.
