I was not prepared for how good this installment turned out to be! Took such a dark turn though compared to the first two films. Really feels like a coming of age movie for Harry. Enjoy :)

Enjoy watching along with me the full-length reaction!

When wizards get excited or upset, they can cause magic to happen accidentally. That's the same way harry 'made' the glass disappear at the snake exhibit in the first movie.

I loved the books and enjoyed the films. But I must admit that I always felt that danielle radcliffe's acting was a bit sub-par. It's understandable from the producer's standpoint, because he was so young when he landed the first movie. But as the character grew older and more mature, the role became more demanding. He has his good moments and his bad. This is unfortunately thrown into sharp relief by the extremely talented adult actors in the series.

My friend found the plush toy of Buckbeak when visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - which she gifted to me as a birthday gift - and he is pure joy and fluff. Definitely one of the top tier supporting creatures in this book/movie universe. Hippogriffs, along with Owlbears were always such a fascinating take on combined-creatures in fantasy and D&D in my opinion. Speaking of owlbears, do you think you'll give 'Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' (2023) a viewing somewhere down the line - maybe next year? While it's not a sequel to the 2000 incarnation, it is Hollywood's second attempt to capture the appeal of the popular tabletop role-playing game. Very entertaining with incredible practical special effects - but sadly it probably won't get a sequel due to bad numbers at the box office. :( Lastly, there's a species of wasps called the Ampulex dementor, that are named after the Dementor wraiths. "These wasps use a toxin to neutralize the neural behavior of cockroaches and make them docile, as if their souls had been sucked out." Great review as usual... :)

I think when Dumbledore said "You know the law" it is that "time turners" are highly regulated. Attempting to use them to change the past is against wizarding law; so if they got caught, it would mean they would be in big trouble in the present. I would imagine that what would also happen, is that wizarding law enforcement would attempt to use a time turner to 'reset' events to whatever happened before they changed them.

My favourite movie!! Buckbeak is one of my favourite magical creatures. I "met" him at the Harry Potter studio tour in London. Which, should you ever come to the UK Oscar, you have to visit. Can't wait for you to continue this franchise!!!

Definitely my favourite Potter movie. The aesthetics alone in this one are just wonderful! Obviously, parts from the book were left out, so I recommend reading the books at some point, if you're interested. Especially Prisoner is a wonderful read. This movie already got a bit darker compared to the first two, but the next one really shifts the entire series into its grown up, darker tone. About your reaction, honestly one of the most pleasant and fun reactions to watch (and I've watched plenty). It's always lovely to see someone having a good time with a movie you love, to be surprised with certain twists or to catch on to little stuff earlier in the movie. I've had a blast with this reaction and I'm excited for your reactions to the next Potter movies! Don't keep us waiting too long, Oscar ;p haha

Oscar, one of the reasons you noticed that this movie started out so much darker than the first two movies is because they changed the director for this movie and he wanted it to be darker since the kids were getting older. Yes, the actor who played Dumbledore in the first two movies, Richard Harris, passed away. I actually miss him as Dumbledore. He was very whimsical and he spoke with almost a whisper which was very soothing, caring, wise, encouraging, understanding, supportive etc. The scene where Professor Lupin is having the students turn their fears into something funny was interesting because when he jumped in to save Harry, we see his fear which was a full moon that he turned into a balloon losing air. We don’t know that Lupin is a werewolf at this point.

Dumbledore was recast after Richard Harris' death. David Thewlis (Lupin) was originally considered to play Professor Quirrell in Philosopher's Stone. Harry not being in trouble for performing the spell in his bedroom is a plot hole, especially since him blowing up aunt Marge is well known. The dementors are a metaphor for depression and were based on J.K. Rowling's own experience with the disease. As someone who has battled depression for years I can honestly say this is the most accurate description: The presence of a dementor makes the surrounding atmosphere grow cold and dark. It drains its victims of happy thoughts, memories and emotions. Every good feeling, every happy memory will be sucked out of them. It forces its victims to relive their worst memories. It is invisible to muggles just like depression is invisible to us. The Patronus Charm makes it go away, even if it's just for a little while, and brings a bright positive energy like therapy (or whatever works for that person) does with depression. The film doesn't explain the origin story of the Marauders Map and that it was created by a group of four friends at Hogwarts together: Prongs/James Potter, Moony/Remus Lupin, Padfoot/Sirius Black and Wormtail/Peter Pettigrew. Or the fact that James, Sirius and Peter learned to be Animagi (shape-shift into an animal) so they could safely be with Lupin when he transformed into a werewolf at the Shrieking Shack (as werewolves are only dangerous to humans, not other animals). In the book we learn that Crookshanks, Hermione's cat, knew all along that Scabbers was really Peter Pettigrew and that Sirius Black was disguised as a dog. Crookshanks had even been helping Sirius get into the Hogwarts to try to capture Pettigrew. It's almost universally agreed upon that the movies did Ron dirty. One of the most notable ways was how most of his best lines were given to Hermione. In the book, Ron protects Harry against Sirius. Also, when Snape calls Hermione an "insufferable know it all" Ron sticks up for her and is put in detention, but in the movie he agrees with Snape. Hermione's line "Is that what my hair really looks like from the back?" was ad-libbed by Emma Watson due to her concern over her hair. The director loved the line so much he kept it in the film. When the twins open The Marauder's Map for the first time the name Newt Scamander can be seen. He is the main character in the Fantastic Beasts series. It's not a quill Harry receives with Firebolt, it's one of Buckbeak's feathers (making it clear that the gift is from Sirius).

I never noticed the clock ticking sound effect until you mentioned it, then I couldn't stop hearing it. Curious how perfectly it was integrated to almost be a subconscious note.

it's really a shame they completely omit the part where we find out who made the maraurders map

Heh, Malfoy getting cursed by Hermione, probably would run off to cry to his dad. Hermione knocking him almost out with her bare hands, i dont think Malfoy even dares to run to his dad with that one.
