im very happy to hear that you were able to pull yourself out of that sadness you had of your own volition : ) it takes a lot of inner strength to do that! so im very proud <3 i think its a good development as well that you had the drive to pull yourself out of it, even if its a new feeling, i think its a good thing! and you are very right, it is very difficult to pull one’s self out of these sorts of feelings so, it makes me proud is all i think the forge analogy is very apt when it comes to personal development and things in life, because like you said it’s true for a lot of people like yourself and others, one has to work hard more often than not to have their life be the way they want it to. your tenacity and perspective is very inspiring sanguine, despite all that you’ve been through, you still have the drive to keep going and keep trucking along no matter what happens, to get up and fix things so that life can get better. it really is inspirational as someone who struggles with these sorts of things. please never apologize for these sorts of happenings, whether it be self isolating or your emotions…you are but human, just like us, so never ever apologize for it. we go through similar struggles, so we understand i promise. im very happy to hear that things are better for you as of lately sanguine, very happy indeed! i hope the coming months as the year progresses is good for you as well, as always take care sanguine, and never worry about expressing your emotions or thoughts and feelings to us <3 as always, you da best 💯 ( also the lighthouse is a good image / visual metaphor for your thought process about this stuff, i like it a lot)

Glad to hear you are doing a bit better and being kind to yourself. You sound a lot like a younger me. Sometimes you can successfully brute force your way through depression with exercise and good mental health hygiene…I know I did. Sometimes it is not possible. Things really only got better for me long term when I met my best friend, then boyfriend, now husband. In 15 years, I’ve never gone back to how I felt off and on for a couple decades. I’m not saying a dating app or whatever is a good cure for depression. Nobody can fix you but yourself, that’s true. But if you’re doing the work at the same time as having a solid friendship or relationship (or family for those who are lucky) to lean on, that’s magic. Therapy at the same time as all that is god tier unstoppable. I implore you to remember that when people say “you have to help yourself” they don’t mean you have to do it alone. If nobody is reaching out, you gotta be the one. And the patrons don’t count! Although we are all rooting for you.

An elder once told me that a blacksmith can’t recognize a diamond, but I see you as both—the craftsman and the gem. Your drive to improve inspires me. Letting go of control is tough (I know, as a fellow control freak), but conquering yourself takes real patience and persistence. Your honesty about your struggles reminds me we’re all human. I’ve faced my own challenges, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s words always lift me: “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” I’ve soared, stumbled, and crawled, but I kept going. Celebrate your wins, learn from the tough times, and keep striving. I believe in you—keep forging ahead until the diamond continues to turn to gold. Stay gold, Sanguine.

As someone who has also battled depression and other neurological wonkiness my entire life, dragging yourself out of a depressive episode, or even *wanting to try* to do so, is not a trivial thing. Props to you for that because there's comfort in the familiar and it's far too easy to let depression convince you that this thing you've always known is comfortable and safe and easy so why bother fighting for something better? You said a lot of things that, frankly, I needed to hear. I* do* deserve better than where I am right now. I *am* worthy of living my best life and not just settling for surviving day to day. And I can do the therapy thing and the meds thing and drink the water and get the sunlight and force myself to talk to friends, but at the end of the day, no one's going to be able to change my life for the better but me. It's up to me to do the hard stuff; the scary stuff. I'm very glad you're doing better and wish you many continued better days.

Thank you Tomboy, doing my best because that's what I deserve, even thought it may be hard at times! Glad the things I talked about could help, it's always good to hear I can improve someone's life, even if just a little.

Thank you Tonitru, that's something I've always tried to tell myself, that any amount of progress, no matter how small, it better than nothing. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's not, but as long as I try, that's all that matters. Your kind words help make it easier though!

I recently learned a new word, "interdependence", which basically means having your boundaries and all the stuff related to your self, but still allowing others into your life in a healthy way. It's something I've been working on, as I realize isolating causes a lot of problems in my life. Thanks for you words, it does help to know people have struggled with the same things I do!

SanguineVA

Thank you Lu, doing my best because not only do I deserve that, but you all do as well as amazing people who can be wildly supportive and helpful. Just because my life may be "hard" doesn't mean I can't change it for the better :)

Tyty Bartender, you always leave such kind words that provide me better insight onto some stuff. It's nice to hear from people who view me in a different light then I do myself. It can be both refreshing and also offer me a bit of respite from all that nonsense I tell myself. Be kind to yourself and thanks for being so supportive, even doing the bad times!

of course, anytime sanguine : )
