As with any god or monster who has demonstrated extraordinary power, Putrescere has garnered a flock of followers—some who might even be called worshippers. 

When the carrion crafters first began stalking Putresecere’s footsteps and offering their service, Putrescere turned them aside, sharply insisting that any time spent in its presence would be their end. But over time, the constant death and toil wore them down, and they allowed the carrion crafters to linger and form a network beneath them. 

Wherever Putrescere lingers, they form the Roots of Decay, a network of tendrils that sap the energy from living things. The vital essence of life is pulled to the center, feeding the void, before being released back as a rotting fluid that leaves the earth fallow. The carrion crafters extract both of these essences, siphoning them off and distilling them. They use these vials of entropic essence and vital essence to empower themselves and bring decay.
