Yeah… it might be early, but this might end up being my favorite Kamen Rider. 6 episodes in and everything just feels RIGHT.

I really like Ozawa on G3's squad. She's extremely blunt and no non-sense. She's very harsh on criticizing Hikawa, but in a very productive way that helps his growth. Unlike Hojo, who is just trying to be a dick to Hikawa.

You're right that Kamen Rider probably casted Hikawa for the female demographic (and probably Shouchi too). Kamen Rider tends to cast their male leads a specific way to boost the female demo (since it was a demographic that Sentai couldn't beat Rider in). This is also the reason they showhorn implied BL in sometimes. Kuuga's actor was actually considered the most attractive man in Japan and had a term in Hollywood named after him "The Joe Odigiri Effect" (which is a term given to actors who are purposely hired to boost the female demo. Brad Pitt and Tom Hiddleston are two actors who have been labeled with the Joe Odigiri Effect.)

What's interesting is it seems like we might have 3 different Riders in terms of concept. Shoichi is a magical Rider. Hikawa is a mechanical Rider. And Ryou is a biological Rider.

Kamen Rider Gills’ motif is a longhorn beetle(Kami-kiri-mushi). In Japanese, the name also carries the meaning of ‘God-killer’ (or ‘God-slayer’) through wordplay, as ‘Kamikiri’ can be interpreted as ‘Kami’ (God) + ‘Kiri’ (to cut/kill).
