Yeah Meto and Kanon are a lot like Sailor Uranus and Neptune from Sailor Moon, and probably a couple even if the show never directly says it. Also their digimon partners Toropiamon and Oleamon are Ultimate level not Champion so they technically should have put up more of a fight against Algomon. As for the digimon you were trying to think of it might be from one of the levels of the digimon from the movie Our War Game, the evolution line from rookie to mega being Keramon to Chrysalimon(Kurisarimon in some translations) to Infermon to Diaboromon/Diablomon.

algomon was originally the main villain of the movie for digimon savers, and then used again as the main villain for the first arc of the digimon adventure reboot from 2020. I think this is the first time we've seen a non-villainous algomon (who's still antagonistic, but isnt outright evil and was able to be reasoned with and befriended). thats something I like about beatbreak, is that it doesnt portray specific species of digimon as inherently evil (even though some can be troublesome or dangerous, but its more outside their control unless they choose to act on it)

That’s something the franchise has done a few times over the years, take digimon that were first or more often used as villains and use one as an ally or maybe even as a partner digimon. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed seeing since it shows how any digimon could be a partner digimon or a friend in general.

Meto and Kanon are the closest we've gotten to a canon gay couple in Digimon, which is pretty cool. I enjoy these eps when seemingly evil Digimon aren't depicted as evil, it can make for a cute partner relationship. Especially since Algomon is a world-ending threat, as you might see in the other comments. Also you were having a stroke when you were trying to say "bullying" lol
