Today I gave myself permission to play.No plan, no perfect sketch, no pressure for it to be “share-worthy.”
I just picked up my brush, chose a few colors that made me happy, and started painting loosely — and honestly, I almost didn’t share this one. It’s messy, it’s wild, and it’s definitely not what I’d call “perfect.”
But that’s exactly why I should share it.
As artists, it’s so easy to fall into the trap of only showing the finished, polished work. But those messy middle moments — the ones where the colors bleed a little too much, or the shapes get lost — that’s where creativity really lives. That’s where ideas start to form.
This piece reminded me that play is essential. It’s how we grow, experiment, and discover new ways of expressing ourselves. Not everything has to be a masterpiece. Some paintings are just meant to teach us to loosen up, breathe, and enjoy the process.
If you’ve been holding your brush a little too tightly lately, maybe try a “no pressure” painting session. Let the paint flow, make mistakes, laugh at them, and just see what happens.
The funny thing is — once you let go of trying to be perfect, that’s when your real style starts to shine through.
