Hi friends!

This rose was such a fun one to paint. I kept it loose and focused on building gentle layers to create that soft, natural feel without getting too tight with the details.

In this tutorial, I walk you through how I approach the petals in stages—starting light, letting things dry, and then coming back in to deepen those shadows and shapes. You’ll also see how I handle the stems and leaves with a more earthy, textured look to balance out the softness of the flower.

If you’ve ever struggled with roses feeling overworked or stiff, this is a great one to practice letting go a bit and trusting the process. You'll see I had to do this, too!

I’ll also be including a printable for you so you can follow along easily.

Materials: Rosa Gallery Paints, 140lb cold press watercolor paper, Meeden mop brush #2.
