Hi Art Peeps!

Have you ever felt like you were doing everything right—the right colors, the right amount of water, the right brushes—but your atmospheric landscapes still ended up with hard edges or "muddy" spots?

I hear from so many of you that creating soft mist and glowing horizons is one of the biggest challenges in watercolor. Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on the one thing that changed everything for my own "loose" style: The Paper.

IWhat we’re covering today:

The Big Battle: Why 100% Cotton is a non-negotiable for those misty skies.

Texture Secrets: Choosing between Hot, Cold, and Rough to get that perfect "sparkle" on the water.

Ending the Frustration: How to stop paper pilling and buckling for good.

I’d love to hear from you in the comments—what’s the biggest "paper pain point" you’ve run into lately? Let's troubleshoot together!

Happy Painting,

Hi Suzanne! Yes, try not to tweak it.....Wet into wet and let the paints move more without the brush. You'll find a big difference! We are sharing tutorials all of May if you want to check them out!

Thanks Kellie, I have a paper hoarding problem. I buy nice paper and don't use it. I'm trying to just enjoy myself and my paper!! I like Baohung best, cold press and rough.

LOL - I think a number of us have that problem!! You know I haven’t tried Baohung!
