Alright, folks! Time for the first fruits of the new order! Specifically, the fact that Halfway Broken has now taken the place of My Hero Automata in the update queue. That actually did cause me a slight issue, in this highly specific case, as I had to figure out how to split the content up without ruining any Epic Moments that were upcoming. Normally, that won't be an issue. This just happened to fall at a critical part of the story, which means I suspect most people are going to figure out with these chapters at least more-or-less what Luffy and Co are up to.

Ah well, as much as it would have been more Epic to reveal it all at once, the nature of the 1st/15th split release for this story slot is more important. Not only does it mean there is one release every week throughout the month, but it also takes some of the writing-time-availability stress out of the update cycle for me. Which means I'm sticking with it. As with how I did Automata, this release is just over 5k (about 5,300), where the mid-month release will be around 10k, for a total monthly goal of around 15k for the story.

As always, the new bits of story are attached here in various formats, and I'll be updating the Master Files in the Pinned Post shortly. I'll also be posting some author's notes in the comments once I've, you know, actually written them. Enjoy more of Halfway Broken!

Chapter 70: A/N 1: New bounties! The crew had stayed out of sight long enough that the WG hadn't had anything new to pin on them. But the ship that was dispatched from Asuka reached a Marine base while they were training/resting up on the island. Thus, the WG promptly used the excuse of a Vice Admiral's death to issue increased bounties, as well as more bounties in general. A/N 2: After much whining from many people on several platforms, I replaced the flag. (*pouts* I thought the original was cool, even if it was intentionally overcomplicated). The new one, I think, does a similar job while being far simpler and more traditional. A/N 3: A little insight into how Hina is integrating into the ship, and a bit of a glimpse into Kuina's day-to-day thought process as well. All while setting the stage for why Luffy's upcoming plan is actually sensible, instead of a massive mistake.

Chapter 71: A/N 1: Yeaaahhhh...if you all haven't figured out at least the general form of their plan by now, you aren't very good at predicting things :-p. Though I think I still have a few surprises to spring on you...

Mh interesting 🤔 so ....... Mh thought about it is that Luffy plans to raise 1 or more marine bases and perhaps taking the tenriubitu hostage and probably destroying the human auction house....... Also the break out thing in impel down could still happen somehow / the revolutionary army or Blackbeard(don't remember if he survived)/..... Which would be a blow as well ..... Mh hina and perona getting along is good 😊 (still hope for the hina/perona ship)..... Next I tried to look up the g66 base on the wiki and it mentions about blade soo that could be something you could somehow use 🤔...also I initially read that wrong and thought it was g16 so I looked at that one ....they have a bloody modern looking submarine how are the marines not using more of those .... But it could also be a good thing to steal later for the tech alon

lol, at least it's only two weeks to the next update, instead of an entire month :-p. And I didn't leave any outright cliff hangers, which I can't promise will be the case next time...

Some good guesses, but I won't spoil it by confirming anything ;-). Though I will state that Blackbeard is dead, that was confirmed earlier in the story, and that the Impel Down break out isn't going to happen. Luffy has no reason to go that far to break out Jozu, who is a stranger to him. I am, in fact, seriously consider a Hina/Perona ship. But it's not set in stone yet. I'm not sure if you were looking for the right thing with the bases. GR - # is simply how the Mangroves of the Archipelago are numbered. The Sabaody Marine Base is on GR 66. It's not the name of the base, just the number of the mangrove island it's on. So far as I know there's nothing particularly special about the Sabaody Marine Base.

I prefer the simpler flag, but I also remember reading this on QQ where you got into an argument with someone who wouldn't stop crying about it and I kind of wish you kept your threat of making it even more complicated lol. Originally I thought the crew would just free all of the slaves from the auction and loot any valuables. Now it looks like they're going to kidnap some celestial dragons and relocate them, making the marines sacrifice valuable manpower to not only go save them but protect them instead of fully concentrating on the war. Also, thank you for the Kuina segment (I think I brought up being worried about her importance either here or on QQ before).

I was so, sooooo tempted. As it is, I left it as it was longer than I'd originally intended out of spite :-p. Other, more reasonable, people complained though. So I eventually gave in. You're pretty close on your guess, but I won't say more than that ;-). Don't want to spoil any surprises you haven't guess yet! Kuina deserves more screen time, it's just hard to juggle everyone getting enough with the expanded crew :-). I'm glad you liked the glimpse of her viewpoint we got here!

Loved it! Can't wait for shit to hit the fan in the next few chapters, will the Strawhats kill the Celestials once their value as hostages ends I wonder... Would love that but might be too ruthless for Hina. Hopefully the Strawhats can break as many Pacifista that are sent with Kizaru as possible, and maybe manage to injure Kizaru thoroughly enough that he can't take part in the battle! Or perhaps you have different Marine reinforcements to beat up in mind. I also would thoroughly enjoy Eustass Kidd's death, but if Luffy (or Yamato) does so, they would probably have to kill off his entire crew so that there is no risk of future retaliation, especially from Killer. But that makes me sad! Killer is one of my top 10 characters in one piece but even if he could have been turned into something more than a cold blooded murderer earlier in his life, he is too far gone at this point in the story (especially if Kidd is killed, he is too loyal not go berserk). Jewellery Bonney is the only Supernova on Sabaody that I could see joining the Strawhats, but since you seem to want to improve the gender disparity in the crew then that will probably not happen. Finally, would love Luffy to encounter Law, considering it was his crew that killed Doflamingo and Law being made aware of that would be dope! Also curious what Law's plan is going to be now that his initial goal has been accomplished by someone else. Perhaps he will still want to take care of the rest of Doflamingo's crew? And he might still end up allying with the Strawhats to take down Kaido afterwards but who knows with all these butterflies fluttering around :)

So, I won't say a lot to avoid to many spoilers, but a couple of specific points: Not all of the Supernovas will be present. The original Sabaody Arc didn't occur simultaneously with the Marineford War, whereas Luffy is aiming for that this time. So some of the Supernovas will have already come and gone. Most people had no idea Doffy is dead yet. The Marines sure aren't going to announce it right now, and his crew doubly so. Since Luffy has only very basic knowledge from behind the Time Skip, he doesn't know about Law's goal either, so he's unlikely to say anything even if they meet.
