An update for this story is here at last! In which we finally get to see 2B's Gym debut, lewd handholding, and more! This update pushes through the end of their time in Pewter, then they are off to Mt. Moon, where it ends...on the closest thing to a cliffhanger I think I've ever written ;-). Don't worry, it's not that dramatic. It ends where it does, despite that being about 500 words short of the 15k goal, because I didn't want it to be too much of a cliff hangar, given it could be a bit before this story wins again.

Of course, the other, more exciting reason that I ended it where I did is that there are upcoming possible pokémon captures for both Zoey and 2B. Just as I've done with 2B's previous captures (and her 'starter'), I'm intending to provide a number of possible options for pokémon they might add to their rosters next as a poll. Obviously, I need to know the results of those polls (which I'll put up later today) before I can go to much farther with the story :-p.

Art! As usual, the art isn't mine. I hunted quite a long way to find a 2B in something that I thought was fitting for...part of this chapter. Said art is by Veliartifical. The remaining two images are AI generations by me, finally giving us a depiction of Zoey for this fanfic. Her original anime art is wholly unsuitable due to me aging up the pokémon journey typical starting ages to something sane.

Zoey is 18, since Journey's in this version start no earlier than 15-16 and she's in her 3rd year. 2B is physically the equivalent of 16-17ish. Her age is...complicated, to say the least, by her original status as an android. She was originally converted on arrival to a body between the ages of 15-16, and has been there a few months over a year. For practical reasons of finding art that fits and her being more firmly in Zoey's strike zone, I'd say she looks around 17. Mentally and emotionally, of course, she's all over the place due to her past.

As usual, the new chapters are attached here in various formats, and the new Master Files, containing the entire story, will be up in the Pinned Post shortly. I'll also be doing some Author's Notes for the chapters after I get that done. You'll be able to find them in the comments, also as usual, though give it a bit so I can actually write them :-p. Chapter 23: A/N 1: The Gym Debut! I hope I did a decent job of this! Honestly, one of the things I've been most concerned about with this fic is my ability to write pokémon battles. A realistic view of them is a lot different than what the game depicts, with even the anime regularly making that clear. How to write certain moves seems to vary wildly between authors, even without me having 2B stretching minds by creating new moves. I'm fairly happy with how Zoey and 2B's Gym battles turned out, but it was just as hard to do as I'd feared *sweatdrop*. Hopefully the result isn't horrible. A/N 2: Yes, in a very '2B' move, 'Lullaby' is a move where Jigglypuff loads the energy for Sing into her fist and punches someone in the face with it. The moment of concussion amplifying the 'oh, unconsciousness is a logical thing to happen here' effect on the target's brain. This makes it more effective than Sing alone, as the target believes there is a logical reason why they should be headed to la-la-land.

Chapter 24: A/N 1: Sadly, I decided to hold off on showing an immediate public reaction to 2B's moves until next update. I didn't want to get them tied down dealing with that reaction, instead preferring to show it in an aside from someone like Daisey first. That meant I needed to get them moving quickly. I'll likely show Daisy or the Professor watching the Battlcast coverage in the next update. A/N 2: Zoey's explanation on dating was actually a bit of an interesting challenge, as I had to step back from my own understanding of 'dating,' and try to figure out how to explain it to someone without the right cultural or social context. Once you take that step to an outsider perspective, you quickly realize the difference is VERY hard to define without that context. Hence Zoey's struggle directly mirrored my own in this case, in her attempt to convey the difference to 2B. Who has an intellectual understanding of the concept only, with little-to-no cultural, social, or emotional grasp on the difference. A/N 3: I was legitimately surprised to discover just how many alien or alien-adjacent pokémon there are O.O. But it made for a good reason 2B is interested in Space, alongside her own curiosity of just where she is in the cosmos. She would be familiar with EARTH's stars, but I don't think the pokémon world has ever been identified as an alternate Earth...

Chapter 25: A/N 1: Mwhwahahaha, I promised you Lewd Handholding! I bet you thought I was exaggerating and leaning into the meme/trope! To be fair, originally I was ;-). But then I was hit with this idea and couldn't resist! 'Who knew handholding could be so LEWD?!'

Chapter 26: A/N 1: So, I've made it at least somewhat clear all along that I'm mixing and matching generations for what pokémon are where. Generally, I'm sticking to pokémon that are available in a region in SOME generation of the games. Which is the case with a couple of the exotic options in Mount Moon, which only show up in one generation of the game with a special 'Shinnoh Sound' ability. Others, like the Tyrunt fossils and potential rampaging Tyrantrum, are more a case of 'logical extensions on what we know.' A/N 2: Kenji is entirely my creation, just FYI so you don't go trying to wiki him :-p. Weirdly, almost none of Professor Oak's assistants are ever named, so I had to come up with one.
