First off, don't miss the August Story Poll that went up yesterday!

With that quick reminder out of the way, it's time for the second Halfway Broken release of the month! Just two chapters this time, but both are on the larger size, bringing the story just shy of 10k words. Which, since the first batch for this month was a bit over 10k, means I hit just about spot on with the total 20k word goal for Halfway Broken this month :-).

Events on Torino Kingdom are covered, along with plenty of training snippets. Perhaps more importantly though, we get a peek in on other perspectives that we haven't had in a while. Garp and Kong, Hancock, King Cobra, Ace, and one more surprise perspective all show a bit of what is going on elsewhere in the world. With some fairly hefty hints about events that the Strawhats might get drawn into, or hear about the aftermath of, even before the Time Skip peroid is over. Luffy might not exactly need to worry about finding opponents to train against soon...

As usual, the new content is attached here. Since this is the second (and final) release of this story for July, I'll also be updating the Master Files in the Pinned Post shortly. Enjoy more of One Piece: Halfway Broken, everyone!

I just couldn't find a way for the Peakcock Slashers to really be a super-viable weapon at the high level. A/N 2: I don't know how many people remember, but Luffy's shapeshifting thing was a choice I made because Raiju are reported to take any of the following forms: tanuki, rabbit, porcupine, bear, squirrel, rat, mouse, deer, boar, leopard, fox, weasel, black or white panther, serow, ferret, marten, marine mammal (such as whale, dolphin or seal), tiger, and cat. Plus some more eldrich ones. The dog/canine motif is only the most COMMON. Thus, his Default Awakened form is 'vaguely canine' but made ENTIRELY of lightning, since that's also a Raiju thing. With many people believing it was a mythological explanation for Ball Lighting.

Chapter 127: A/N 1: Dun dun dun. Because Garp cleared out G-5, a certain clown needed to get his children somewhere different... A/N 2: I was honestly surprised when I read Shakky's entry that she soloed Rodger and his crew. Admittedly, it was because they were love-struck with her. But still... A/N 3: Mwahahahaha. I've had a LOT of people whine that Luffy should have grabbed Whitebeard's Fruit. I said NOTHING, because he DID. I just didn't mention it, as he didn't hold it for his crew. All of his crew who WANT Devil Fruits already have them, and even with the training that lets them learn to be LESS impacted by water and seastone...loading the entire crew with nothing but Devil Fruit users is stupid. They already honestly have too high a percentage of the crew thus loaded, at least if not for aforementioned training. He figured it would be better used by Alabasta, who has the resources to hide someone training with it until it can act as a deterrent to the WG. A/N 4: Yep, the surprise perspective was Reiju. How that will all work out, I won't say...

The marine ships are going to get annihilated by the Artilery set up on Amazon Lily aren't they. The strongest Fighters and the seraphim will be tied up with Kuja and their allies strongest fighters. Which probably gives the guns free reign to utterly destroy any marine fleet assigned to it (Which will be an extremely expensive loss. As much so as the fighters to be honest as they need to use seastone coated ships to even get to Amazon Lily). So I don't think observers will give data back to the marines. As if the Alliance plays this right there wont be any observers left alive.

The second chapter its funny, Garp really trying to not affect Luffy at all, and the end its literally Raiju planning to have Luffy go to the kingdom by Sanji.

You mentioned that there were tens of thousands of boks per segmant of the tree. But from my experianse, the amount of books in a librery tends to be grater than most think. In exaple my old school had a rufly 25x25 meter library that was realy inefficient (they used a lot of space for tables and the like and had a lot of space inbetween shelvs) sins it was a school liberary, and it still had like 37 000 boks. (not counting papers and magazines) I think it would more acurate to sey hundrads of thousands of boks per segmant of the tree.

Nice chapter, nice to catch up with the rest of the world. Hmm, Cesar is about to have a bad day, I wonder if the gas gas fruit is a direct counter to the fire fire fruit. Being able to manipulate O2 and CO2 freely. Vivi needs a power up since her fruit is mostly support based. Wouldn’t sending aramaki to Amazon lily deal with him? I don’t see him surviving. Kuma and seraphim are about to be rescued. With Hancock and jinbei around to see their younger doppelgängers I can see them trying to rescue them. With the range of luffys observation, artillery and lighting fruit I don’t see any observers living. It would be funny if the attack leads luffy to save most of the Germa kingdom (not judge or ichiji) but maybe Reiju, Niki and the soldiers/ infrastructure. Just to retaliate. The snails can go from the calm belt to alabasra easily.

Whew after leaving both this and displaced to gather chapters at around thriller bark for this one and chapter 60 for Displaced I have finally caught up to at least the Public releases ahahaha just this one and the 2 displaced posts on Patreon to be fully caught up

Vivi's need for an upgrade is why I swapped her weapons, yes. Garp/the Marines don't actually know how dangerous Amazon Lily is, and he has to assigned SOMEONE to help with Germa. Making at least one of them someone he doesn't care about losing, while the other to major heavy hitters there are ones he can trust the basic morality of, made sense to him.

I'm actually aware of this (the Library of Congress has something like 47 million entries), but I was writing from Luffy's perspective, and to HIM, 'tens of thousands of books' sounds impressive enough to match what he was seeing.

No worries. Your observation was correct. It was actually wording I debated over, after looking up the statistics for several major libraries. I ultimately decided to undersell the number rather than try to give an accurate idea, as the alternatives sounded clumsy.

Not going to lie after leaving this on the backbone to build up chapters and catching up the name just doesn't seem to suit the story anymore or even that its a system fic it just seems to not really matter all that much Honestly apart from the beginning we don't really see any real affect of the system other then honestly just being a reference guide or mention Oh except the shop hell even his inventory started to get ignored there's several times where its went from the discoveries cargo hold not being important because he has it to them needing to shift stuff to be stored on shixis like he doesnt have it Even with you adding functions its like its more to try and keep it relevant and give you plot devices while dragging it further away from the whole system concept Even the halfway broken concept is kinda meh since the system honestly doesn't seem to be really affecting his growth and seems more like a status page shop and inventory with additions like the map even his skills don't really seem to matter all that much besides the occasion perk point spent to get one that he didnt have but few seem like something he couldn't have achieved without one and are more plot devices then anything at this point like the random body manipulation to remove the slave marks from Hancock and her sisters He honestly doesn't seem to be half way broken just like a decently talented local I mean sure its earlier but even with how strong he is luffy basically didnt put near as much effort to achieve the same slightly longer for how dumb luffy was I can't see him being stronger with the same resources or training and he didnt have a supposedly "halfway broken" system Idk rambling just feels kinda like the story lost its premise and now feels more like he was isekaid with a shop or something

…Hancock is near the level of Yonko? Then again, she was already pretty strong and she HAS actually been training, especially with our boy Luffy so…meh. I won’t question it. Also…HA! Poor Vivi got short-circuited by Robin’s passionate kiss! Wow, Princess, I don’t think even Luffy managed THAT the first time. For twenty minutes no less! If she’s like this from a kiss, I can’t wait to see what’ll happen when things get “spicy” between them. Now then… Reiju. I’ll be blunt: I like you. …so I’m hoping that when, inevitably, Luffy and co arrive WHEN you contact the ONE brother you genuinely love, you get your fine ass somewhere safe. I was legitimately surprised to discover that basically the only truly serious canon fight Hancock is shown in...has post-timeskip Blackbeard taking her dead fucking serious from minute one. Considering her dangerous to the point that, even after he won, he wasn't willing to risk letting her live to try forcing her to return his petrified crew back to normal. Considering how rarely he takes ANY fight seriously, I figured that is a pretty damn blatant review of just how strong she actually is. The readers just don't realize it as Oda mostly uses her as goofy comic relief with Luffy and the Love Sickness thing. As always, thanks for the edits!

Fun fact: Ace actually has a past fling/past lover from the canon novel that was designed by Oda. She is a reddish-orange haired Marine lieutenant named Isuka that chased Ace throughout his time as a Spade Pirate up until he joined Whitebeard and had her own tragic backstory involving pirates and corrupt Marines and more. In the novel it's left unsaid but the concept art Oda drew of her labeled her "Ace's lover", so they have a history. She has a bit of a crisis of faith due to learning of the Marine treachery in her backstory but in the end despite Ace asking her to join his crew she decides to stay a Marine and they part on friendly terms. But in this fic, the clusterf*ck at Marineford and the World Government's blatantly and openly corrupt handling of Ace's little brother could very well be the tipping point for her to leave the Marines and finally take Ace up on that offer. She even has a cool epithet of "Nailing" Isuka from how she uses her rapier to leave her opponents full of holes. So mayhaps Ace won't be bemoaning the sausagefest known as the Whitebeard's Sons for much longer lol.
