Behold! It is a release in the early afternoon! I have unwillingly braved the light of the cruel daystar, so you might as well benefit from it!

Pointless dramatics aside, it's obviously time for the second Why Was There no Truck?! release of the month. This one starts out with a roughly 3,000 word lemon, the very first of the fic, and ironically one of the longer ones I've written into any story. Why ironic? Well, because it's only two people and they don't even go all the way, so it's a bit unusual that it soaked up that much word count :-p. That said, I think it fit quite well as the bridge for starting the pairing up for the story. Both with Dinah, and establishing a bit of setup for how/why it might be expanded to others.

Not to worry if you're not into the pairing that the poll chose, or just aren't a smut person! As you might have guessed from the post images, the other 6,500+ words of the release cover Ghost Spider's arrival, their plan to deal with Carnage, and a bit of a surprise that I won't ruin related to their guest and the future. So there's still a fair chunk of content for you even if the lemon isn't to your taste :-).

As usual, the new content is attached to this post in various formats. Also as usual, since this is the second and final update of this story for the month, I will be updated the Master Files in the pinned post. Also, also, as usual, I'll write up some author's notes shortly, which you'll be able to find in the comments section. Enjoy the latest release of Why Was There No Truck?!!

Chapter 33: A/N 1: Whew! Basically a whole chapter of smut/lemon with just a little bit of relationship building! A bit unusual for my works, but it honestly just seemed to fit and flow fairly well in this case. In part because its the FIRST lemon, and in part because it actually took more effort to keep it from 'escalating too far' than it would have to go straight to kinky sex. Either way, I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Chapter 34: A/N 1: So, frankly, I like Spider Gwen/Ghost Spider a lot more than Peter Parker. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Peter. It's just that he's been a bit...overused. Just in my childhood there were like three different versions of his story in cartoon series, plus the many comics. Let along the various Sony reboots and MCU. The fact that his writers are also, frankly, boringly unoriginal and rely on fucking him over repeatedly to carry the plot of his various series doesn't help. Gwen is at least a little more unique. Also cuter, but ironically that actually isn't why I went with her over him. I'm guilty of that in many cases and will cheerfully own up to it, this just isn't one of them. A/N 2: Alyssa finally gets a better grasp on just where she is versus a relatively big name, with us getting a view of that with her. She's solidly near the top of mid-tier with her combination of powers and skills...but not quite up to going one on one with a veteran hero whose at a similar level. A/N 3: Identity reveal. In this case, Gwen is used to Stark and made the leap of logic that Star Knight had already figured out who she was. Since part of her goals are to establish a rapport with the team, she didn't hesitate to use unmasking as a gesture toward that. Alyssa, in turn, honestly figured Tony had tracked her down by this point...and also realized she's literally the only one on her team with an actual secret identity -_-. Strangely, that wasn't actually planned on my part, and I only realized it at about the same time Alyssa did in this chapter... A/N 4: No, Gwen isn't going to stick around long-term as part of the team. At least not yet. But I wanted to start building up more connections for them with the wider hero community, and this was a good chance to do it.

Thanks for the update. I particularly like the more quiet discussions with Dinah and Gwen. My one concern is that they're planning to confront a hydrokinetic next to water without any indication of a plan to not be immediately overwhelmed by waves. At a bare minimum, unless the sonic projectors are watertight, designed for saline environments, and pressure resistant in both housing and mounting, Carnage seems able to just dispose of them by deluging the area in seawater, regardless of ability to detect their locations.

So while she is similar in Strenght to Ghost spider she is in fact faster. But can't take advantage of that due to less experience/skill in fighting. So her fastest possible improvement would be for her to truly learn a fighting style that matches her physical ability. And after that its mainly delving deeper into the Force skills. Such as full on combat precog instead of just using it as a knock of danger sense. As well as getting good enough at telekinesis that it becomes a full on tactic in an of itself. A master force user could for example could just lift up Carnage in telekinesis and lock him into being unable to move (canon reason why jedi don't do that all the time is that other force users resist it with there own TK and when fighting normals its usually not worth the energy expenditure since its exhausting to use multiple times in a row).

Novus's Fanfiction Works

An excellent summary for the most part, yes. Except the bit about telekinesis and Carnage. Carnage is SUPER malleable and would be a nightmare to try to lock down with that particular method. Doubly so since he can and does fire spikes that pierce most armor.

The full details of their plan aren't shown :-). As for the sonic projectors, though. Those are 150% waterproof. They are perfected Stark Tech, not radioshack builds.

If you want to add some more flavour to getting the team recognised you could add some info I know about Gotham (not sure if it’s canon or not) “Gotham city is built on a intersection of state lines, it’s the reason why criminals get away with so much, there’s conflicting jurisdictions and the corruption covers the rest”

Novus's Fanfiction Works

*waggles hand in so-so motion* So, I ran into this when first starting this fic, but Gotham's location is murky. As in, it has changed through various media and iterations. Most commonly, its situated on one side of the Delaware Bay, in New Jersey, with Metropolis being located on the other side of the same bay. I went with that interpretation when I put this version of Gotham together, but that means there isn't really any question that it's part of New Jersey. Specifically, an island firmly on the New Jersey side of the bay.

As I had finally time (and remember to) read this one would say that I personally would have liked Ghost Spooder/Gwen as a possible love interest instead of dinah but alas that ship has sailed...... So Ghost being able to beat current alissa is acceptable though I don't know if ghost would actually be durable enough to wistand starbolts.... Having trained with Diana would make ghost more experienced with fighting "stronger" opponents and an actually martial trained Spooder is a scary idea in itself so having her around so alissa can adapt her mokoto granted skill to her body and higher strength will be good..... Also on the note of training how are her actual force abilities coming along......
