Schedule Alterations/Sept Story Calendar (Patreon)
Content
Alright folks! As I mentioned yesterday in the September Story Poll Results post, I've decided to make some minor alterations to the monthly posting schedule/pattern. Note that this will not affect the total amount of content published. The sole reason I'm doing this is that my switch to posting something every 4 days has caused some issues with the Monthly Story Poll. I've always run it somewhere around mid month, but doing that is causing issues since I can't make proper blurbs for the poll without causing spoilers. Technically, this solution isn't perfect either, but it's the best I can come up with. Essentially, what I'm going to try in September is the following Schedule:
September 1st - 10,000+ words of Misfit System (Author's Choice)
September 4th - 10,000 words of One Piece: Halfway Broken
September 8th - 10,000 words of A Very Confused Pokemon Adventure (Poll Winner)
September 12th - 10,000 words of Can One Displaced Hero Save the Galaxy?!
September 16th - 10,000 words of Misfit System (Author's Choice)
September 20th - 10,000 words of One Piece: Halfway Broken
September 24nd - 10,000 words of A Very Confused Pokemon Adventure (Poll Winner)
September 28th - 10,000 words of Can One Displaced Hero Save the Galaxy?!
Random Point - 10,000+ word Extra
Total Word Count = 90,000+ words
What this will let me do is hold off the monthly poll until the 25th, and run it through midnight of the 30th/31st of each month. This will mean that the poll will be able to contain blurbs for every poll story, while I will still have enough time to work on the winner of the poll between the 1st and 8th. Since Displaced Hero and Halfway Broken are the current guaranteed updates, I set this up to use them as spacers which will help me keep working 1.5 to 2 stories in advance. Which is what I've managed to maintain so far, insuring that updates are as consistent as possible.
It does meant that the poll won't run quite as long. To be frank, however, I've kept a general eye on when most of the voting happens for a few months, and the vast bulk of votes come in within 48 hours of a poll going up. Thus, I believe a 5-6 day window, rather than the 7-10 day I've been using, should still be more than enough. Particularly if I stick a couple of reminders on various posts.
September will be something of a test bed, to see how this works. Depending on how it goes, I might either revert to what I was doing before, or adjust it some other way. Either way, I intend to have posts like this up with the schedule before the first of each month.
P.S. If it appearing in the schedule didn't clue you in, the Misfit System Poll has officially ended. An extremely solid 71% of voters wanted to see it get its chance to shine farther, using the Author's Choice slot for September. So look forward to seeing more of it on the 1st and 16th!
