October Poll Results! (Patreon)

Alright! There will be a post much later today (after I've actually slept!) for the first release of October (Why Was There No Truck?!, in this case), but I wanted to slip the poll results in today as well. So I ran the numbers just about as soon as the poll actually finished around midnight. Let's take a look see at the results, shall we?

Stripper With a System: 367.84

Harry Potter: Pandora's Box: 236.5 + 10% Boost = 260.15

A Very Confused Pokemon Adventure: 213.84

Misfit System: 138.84

Whew! Well, the winner honestly wasn't too hard to predict this time. Stripper With a System is popular and didn't get an update last month, so voters dogpiled it a bit! I'm sure the fact that it has possibly the highest Horni Quotient of any current story has nothing to do with it...probably ;-). That said, Pandora's Box and Pokemon Adventure both put on a solid showing! Pandora's Box, in particular, with have an excellent chance next month, I think, as its boost will continue to accrue.

I have to admit that I'm a little torn about how poorly Misfit System did. That story seems to be far more polarizing than I'd hoped. When I get feedback on it at all it's almost universally positive, but getting that feedback has been a bit rough, and then there's the weird way polls with it have gone. 70% of people wanted to see it continue, only for it to crash and burn pretty hard when put in the poll for the first time. Part of it might just be how early on things are with that fic, I guess, which means I might need to throw another Author's Choice at it to get it some more traction before it can hold its own. For now I guess it's a bit of a case of needing to wait and see.

Anyway! With the extremely clear winner of Stripper With a System, you can look forward to seeing Rylia and Co reappear on the 8th! I'm using the same update schedule for October that I did for September, as it seems to have worked pretty well! So:

October 8th - 10,000 words of Stripper With a System (Poll Winner)

Total Word Count = 90,000+ words

That's what the month looks like! As I already said above, the first Why Was There No Truck!? release of the month will be out later today!

I love Misfit System. I'm not super familiar with Worm but the power system seems neat. But right now it's mostly still in it's establishing phase. Your other stories are a bit further along so there's just a bit more intrigue there.

Haven't new stories routinely done poorly in the poles? I swear I remember No Truck getting a low number of votes when it first come out. Pokémon as well.

Yeah, I kinda figured that is a lot of the problem. That may end up causing it to struggle to get anywhere at all though, since I can't just pick it for Author's Choice every time and leave other stories to languish...

Actually, Pokemon Adventure did stupidly well. If I remember correctly, it was the first story to ever pull an upset against Halfway Broken, back when it was still in the poll. Stripper has been the same way, aside from Misfit, it's by far the 'youngest' story and...well...*waves at the results*. Truck, I honestly don't remember. I think it did fairly well though. It wasn't originally even meant to be a long term story and got added to the poll due to overwhelming response. Before that I think it would have been Halfway Broke itself, and...well...yeah :-p. So no, it's more out of place for a new story to do poorly. At least so far.

That's the downside of having so many plates spinning when all of them are good. You're really good at maintaining the internal rules and lore of the worlds you set up and I'm a sucker for good world building.

Not able to vote myself so my words are air, though that may change in the future. :-) But for me, not a fan of the protagonist in Misfit. Prefer male protags in general in addition to WHOM it is, though I adore Stripper.

If I could vote I wouldn't have voted for Misfit either. This absolutely doesn't mean I don't want to see more of it though. It's got that potential but is largely unrealized yet. I think Misfit will continue to poll poorly until you either give us an ethical/moral gut punch or Vicky's place in the world is much more firmly established. Now that I'm thinking about it, if it wasn't for Stripper being more mature and developed of a story with time to get attached to characters I'd happily put Misfit above it. At least so long as Stripper is in a low action time where the MC and Co are safe because nobody's quite putting everything toghether and thus there's no real conflict outside of the end game count down timer.

I like Misfit fine, I'm just never going to vote for something that updated in the same month I'm voting. I'm reading every story and I appreciate variety, so I currently just put all my votes into whichever story hasn't been updated longest. Misfit will probably get my vote in a couple months once Pandora's Box has updated.

Well as for feedback and even the vote to include misfit it is/was open to all patreons as far as I remember....... So I myself as a paying non-voter can't vote...... So it is possible that non-voting members want it more than the voters...... Also we don't have a clue about the horny to be included here......

And the downside of there not being more hours in the day, too :-p! I'm glad you enjoy all the world building. Unlike combat, I will happily claim that as one of my specialties ;-)!

Well, at least the next extra I'm posting has a male protagonist then ;-). I tend to try and have some of both going. Though I supposed the fact that Displaced Hero and Halfway Broken are my most popular fics might indicate people prefer the male ones...then again Stripper is probably #3 and Pokemon Adventure #4.

Good to know. Yeah, I suspect the problem is how early Misfit is in its story, though that won't get fixed anytime soon if it can't win the polls :-(.

To be fair, I'm not sure even I have a clue about the Horny to be included in Misfit. Certainly, a lot of shennigans with Vicky solo because of the system giving her horny adjacent powers ;-). But as for an actual pairing I've yet to figure out what I want to do with it. Jackie is an option, but I've never been a big fan of writing Female X Male from a female point of view. I've considered her running into a Futa OC she finds interesting because that's a THING in Night City. Or I could go with one of the very few female cast that would be around and old enough in the time period its set. Those are a bit thin on the ground, due to being 9 years before Edgerunners and 10 before the game, though...

Well I myself am partial to fem x fem or fem x futa but with all the horny powers we could end up with a futa Vicky even although yes the female cast is kind of sparse but misty or panam should be old enough and yoko or t- bug on the other hand you could do some longer time skips in the beginning for Vicky to establish herself more and come to the horny later..... You did longer skips for automata and broken tough mostly because the mcs were kids but a few months to a year skips while Vicky acclimatizes herself could be something......
