Why Was There No Truck!? (35-37) (Patreon)

Behold! 'Tis the first Author's Choice release of the month!

I fell victim to reading some DC/Marvel fics recently, so I ended up with a fairly strong urge to work on Why Was There No Truck!?. The fact the story left off at a point that things were going to get a bit more interesting didn't hurt :-p. I'm honestly almost completely happy with how this one came out. The only part I'm not entirely pleased with is the Carnage fight, which I don't hate, but I think could have gone better. I found his fighting style and mentality particularly challenging to write, as its kinda amorphous. A style honestly easier to depict visually then to describe -_-.

Anyway! I was quite pleased to finally be in a good spot to start trickling in more interactions with the other vigilantes of Gotham, and I'm fairly excited for reactions to the twist in this one! Though the next update in the month is likely going to be a lot harder, as it should be where Alyssa finally encounters Batman himself. Which...I really need to pin down better exactly how I want him to be in this version. I was feeling particularly uncharitable toward him when I first wrote this fic, and he's still not exactly my favorite DC character, but I think I might want to lighten up on him a little to save myself headaches later...

P.S. Tried to make another Alyssa image by editing an AI piece featuring Medusa/Rider (who is most closely what Alyssa looks like). The White Tiger image isn't perfect either, since this story's version is Selina Kyle under the costume, but it gives an idea, at least :-).
