Ta da! The first Stripper With a System release for the month is here! It's a solid 11,000 words, too!

Fair warning on this one, I pulled something I've done mainly with Displaced Hero before and made these three chapters all show different perspectives on the same time period. Note, this isn't a small time period. I used this methodology the same way I use it from time to time in Displaced Hero, as a way to cover a time-skip section without just flat skipping it all. This particular story badly needed to push forward a decent chunk of time, so that the many things they have been/are working on have time to realistically progress. Not to mention, of course, that we're still over a decade from ME:1, so the occasional boot forward is going to be required to actually get there in a reasonable time frame.

This time, that 'boot forward,' is a period of roughly six months. During which we see Susan's first expedition, Rylia and Kara working on the Magnificent Maiden, and Momo/Bruce/Lucy perspectives that help highlight other major developments during the period. So it isn't a case of those annoying 'repeat the same scene from different perspectives over and over' chapters you see in some fics, but rather three entirely different (but related) sets of events that just so happen to occur over the same time frame. I've found this to be the least confusing way to present this sort of thing, as it doesn't require you to build your own little timeline on a post-it-note to understand what's happening :-p.

Anyway, I'm fairly pleased with the results, my sole regret being that I didn't find a good place to squeeze in some dating-type experiences between Kara and Rylia. That might make things a bit awkward when its clear they've progressed, without having shown it, but it didn't quite match the tone of the rest of their chapter well enough for me to try shoehorning it in.

As usual, the new chapters can be found attached to this post in various formats! Just as a reminded, it can only be found here, for now, as I don't update the Master Files until the full content for the month is out for any given story. There will, also as usual, be Authors Note's in the comment section, once I have a bit of time to actually write them ;-). Enjoy (hopefully!) more of Stripper With a System!

Edit: Forgot to mention that you should be seeing a new poll within a day or two, for Rylia's next summons :-).

Chapter 36: A/N 1: I wanted to show both a bit more of Susan, so everyone can get a feel for what this version of her is like...and establish her mentoring of poor, possibly traumatized Liara :-p. The human OC she's also mentoring will like reappear as part of her team, establishing her to a very small amount here being the first step in making her a properly recognizable character.

Chapter 37: A/N 1: I'm a ship nerd. This should surprise Absolutely No One. So of course I was going to try showing bit and pieces of the Maiden being constructed, though I focused less on the technical than I could have. A/N 2: No, I wasn't able to resist naming Nakid the way I did. Her mother and Older Sister (the only one named so far) were legitimately random generations that merely amused me enough to use. Nakid obviously wasn't, but I'm not apologizing for the name :-p. A/N 3: Mwhahahaha! I doubt, even with her included as an image for the post, that any of you thought a wild Samara was about to appear! Apparently, she really did have a tiny backstory snippet I didn't even know about where she was a commando for 60 some years earlier in life. One that did some expedition work, at that. While it was tempting to put her in with Susan because of that, the truth is that I needed someone In-Universe that could be utterly trusted with captaining the Maiden (and thus seeing a lot of secret things). I could have created an OC, but didn't want to, since much of both the Maiden's crew and Susan's team will need to be OCs. Samara and her daughters (their cure being a VERY good reason for her loyalty to be pretty darn absolute) neatly provide three in-universe characters for the Maiden's crew, while also equally providing a VERY GOOD REASON for people not to mess with Rylia. Her Captain and primary trainer for her bodyguard teams being a Matriarch-age ex-Justicar is the sort of thing that will give even the most powerful other Matriarchs pause in trying to exploit Rylia.

The Magnificent Maiden looks like a Babylon 5 White Star......I approve. You have good tastes in ships.

Chapter 38: A/N 1: I've had this version of Bruce subscribe to the idea that Batman's no-kill policy was more a fear of slippery slopes than an actual morality issue for him. Which I know doesn't reflect ALL Batmans, but does at least some of them, and makes him a better fit for his Shadow Broker role...while also providing a little internal conflict and struggle for him. A/N 2: The idea of Tela ending up adopting Jack hit me at one point and I just couldn't let go of the idea ;-). It both amused me and offers a way to subtly co-op Tela for the story a bit more, without get actually being part of their inner circle. A/N 3: Morinth (whose referred to by the name Mirala by her mother and sisters at least once or twice, implying that might be her original name) needed to be dealt with if I wanted to grab Samara for use the way I did. Thankfully, if there was ANYONE who would both be able to help track her down AND play incredibly enticing bait for her, its Bruce. That it let me put him momentarily back in the role of Batman for a moment or two was just a nice cherry on top. For the curious, because of Bruce, they managed to take Morinth in alive for trial. So Samara is also a bit less damaged, not having needed to kill her own daughter.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Honestly, I could absolutely see the White Star as an Asari ship. They tend to build wider than the other races. Though they also have this weird triangle fetish I avoided as it is...well...weird.

Ttran2323

Butterflies! So many butterflies! Also I do like how we saw how some of those closest to them realize that Rylia and co. have bigger plans but are still onboard even if they don't know exactly what's going on yet. Also holy shit that Tela and Jacqueline development is both incredibly wholesome and hilarious. As is the Samara part with the teaser for a Bruce/Samara ship :V But yeah, seeing the beginnings of changes is wild considering how much farther we have to go still—can't wait to see how much further they veer off from canon

It's actually really hard to come up with a character with a head for politics with a heroic disposition like Rylia needs... Off the top of my head there's, like, Josephine from Dragon Age? But she works in noble politics not like, corporations and modern polities. Maybe Padmé from Star Wars? For another administrator for the Shadow Broker team the correct option is, obviously, Dragon, because she's best girl :) I *love* the butterfly with Jack becoming Tela's adopted daughter, I wonder if she'll get Commando training like that one ME: Andromeda companion? She'd probably be a great pickup for the "light-side" team in 10 years if so. (assuming she doesn't become a Spectre like her mama anyways)

BobyCola

and it was a nice chapters release!

TheZombieDoc

I love your take on the Batman no-kill rule, especially since it's kind of the only one that makes sense. He's a Billionaire who dresses up and punches villains that could kill him easily if he's not careful. He's not exactly the picture of mental health. So it's believable that if he ever killed someone and it worked, things improved even slightly, he'd start seeing it as a more permanent solution to his problems.

BobyCola

Well Padme if you could get one not so naive or one that accepts that not everyone just wants to be friends and wants to be good if you try hard enough , but her daughter Leia could be an option with the whole leadership/war she was stuck with... Maybe some female Jedi or many a female jedi/sith from old republic times could do it. depending on sources X-men Emma Frost, Jean Grey, Tessa/Sage. marvel: Pepper Pots, Natasha Romanova (would probably have a lot of fun), Shuri..

Lana Beniko from SWTOR?

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I'm FAIRLY sure there's at least one Batman (comic maybe?) where that's his canon reason. Though I'm not a huge Batman fan, so I can't be sure :-). I know I've seen it as fan theory at the very minimum.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I've been brainstorming the politician thing for a while, so I think I've got a few options people will like. Though I admit it was a looootttt harder than most other roles. I have one from Star Wars, another from Marvel, and a third from DC that I think all work. I'm glad people seem to like Jack's adoption by Tela :-p. The idea stuck with me hard once I had it...

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Yeah, she can't rely on her summons for EVERYTHING or things would get out of hand. So slowly introducing intelligent people who are figuring out there is more going on, but also have a good read on Rylia's being well intention is fairly important. I'm glad it seems to be reading well for people :-). The Tela and Jack thing just fits, doesn't it :-p. At least with the Tela I made, who has a soft spot for kids... Canon is only barely a suggestion with me, after a while ;-). Thankfully, I like to think I'm fairly good at make slow divergences that build into very different stories, while still being believable.

Maglad

Pink and purple ship… okay. It’s not called The Daemonette. For shame.

Maglad

They tend to favor hydrodynamic shapes. Remember they’re very much space octopi.

Widget

I never even noticed their crests looked like cuttlefish tentacles! I wonder if they were even humanoid before they got genemodded into a race of sexy ladies? The Prothean project lead might have let his freak flag fly far higher than anybody thought...

Ttran2323

On an entirely unrelated note, part of my mind was wondering who could possibly act as the Admin that they need since such roles don't get too much attention in media Unfortunately my first thought was fucking GLaDOS which... yeah, obviously a terrible idea But just imagine :V

Maglad

Ah, have they shown Bruce’s new student any Batman movies yet?

Donan The Barbarian

Personally I'm thinking the guy who gets summoned to another world as a hero then IMMEDIATELY gets handed the throne and spend basically his entire anime as a kingdom builder. Heck you could probably arrange for him and his allies to come as a package deal in their late 60s - 80s after making a deal with the marketplace to resolve a disaster beyond their abilities and then de-aging them a bit like Bruce was

Donan The Barbarian

Personally I've always believed he's got the no-kill rule because he knows that between his wealth and genius he could become a unstoppable dictator committing sins greater than Hitler if he's not careful to watch himself and his paranoia.

Ttran2323

Kazuya Souma from How a Realist Rebuilt the Kingdom? He would be a choice pick. However, I think the Marketplace—at least Rylia's version of it here—has a soft limit to it? No magic stuff at the very least. And he and the rest of his family are very much in the magic side of things. That and you run into the complications of the rest of the wives—one of whom is a full blown elf lady which... yeah, that's a bit much to hide from public I think. ...Hmm, niche pick, but maybe Groza from GFL2? She kinda operates as an adjutant when not running field missions. Though, her being an AI might be a problem with the Reapers. I dunno, stopped playing the game a while ago so no idea if she'd be viable

twilightwanderer

I've seen a couple other good explanations put forward, at least in fan spaces. For versions of Batman that symbolize Hope for Gotham as well as Vengeance for criminals, having Batman kill would be counterproductive to that symbolism (both in and out of universe). On a more practical level, Batman already operates as an illegal vigilante, if he wants any sort of working relationship with the police, especially someone like Gordon, there have to be lines Batman doesn't cross.

twilightwanderer

Thanks for the update. A lot of fun moments in here, especially Sue driving, the Maiden's paintjob (Errant Venture vibes, anyone? no? just me?), and Tela's whole bit. As for Samara, I figured we'd see her, given the picture, but I certainly didn't predict where she'd end up; I love it though.

twilightwanderer

Edits: The Morinth takedown section header says it's on Omega, but then Bruce immediately states that they're on Illium.

twilightwanderer

For political candidates, I hope the Star Wars one is Mon Mothma, and if not I have to pitch her one last time. (Just going off Legends, I haven't watched Andor yet) She created the Rebel Alliance by negotiating the union of multiple rebellious factions that had resisted unification prior, and then led their political arm for years, before becoming the first head of state of the New Republic and overseeing its establishment as a legitimate galactic government. She has the rare quality of being an effective politician, able to negotiate and compromise (something Leia and Padme don't always achieve), while maintaining an unshakeable moral core, and she's used to operating on a galactic scale. I'll also re-pitch Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Stargate: Atlantis), for the specific fact that while she may not be the best option for a politician or administrator, she's a very good option for both, and has some fairly applicable experience.

twilightwanderer

Finally, in the gap between the mention of a need for a bodyguard and the Samara reveal, I had a somewhat cursed thought that I now must inflict on you: Alice Cullen (from Twilight) would actually make an incredibly good bodyguard purchase. Super-fast, super-strong, highly durable and somewhat regenerative to many things, enhanced senses, _and_ precognition. To cap it all off, she'd probably fit in with the group fairly well (if a bit draining on Rylia's social batteries), and she's got experience manipulating financial markets while avoiding detection, letting her assist Momo, and maybe Bruce and Lucy as well. If you wanted to avoid precogs, Jasper would also be a good fit, maybe better in some ways, given he's more reserved but focused, has a basic military background, swaps the precog for receptive/projective empathy, and has a solid reason for being available given his control issues. (Edward would work too, but it'd probably cost extra to get one that isn't a manipulative, controlling prick)

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Yep. Hard limit of no magic. It's too easy to break even basic magic in a sci-fi setting with things like expanded spaces. It also ramps up the cost with power levels above the ME universe. So a fully powered Wonder Women, in example, would be more Karma expensive then every other summon she's done Combined. Likely by a factor of five.

2026-10-10 14:00 You aren't the only one who thought of the Errant Venture ;-). It's why I made Imiss comment about having to hunt down enough paint, since Booster never could find enough res for the Venture... Ah, thanks for catching the Omega/Illum error. I originally started writing it on Omega, only to remember that you first encounter Smars on Illum and Morinth had just run from there. So she wouldn't be on Omega yet, here. Mon Monthma is... problematic. She might have be a decent leader during parts of the rebellion, but she utterly hosed the New Republic. Which sours me on her. I've never seen Twilight so you're cursed thought had no effect on me :-p.

Mayb to warhammer fantasy? The daemonettes of Slannesh do have this color scheme.

Tsorov

Do these movies not exist in the Mass effect frandchise? All of humanity wondering why an Asari inventor continues to produce droids with referece names and apperances to a (at this time) old and nieche sci fie universe would be really funny.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

I decided, for practical reasons of him being able to use the name Bruce Wayne, that no they do not. Though even if they did, the year is 2169. It could easily have been a 100+ years since the last one came out, if DC went under or stopped making movies. Same with the other series she's pulling from. A few of them might, but for sake of not having to screw with it too much, I'm assuming most of them either don't or are relatively unknown.

Novus's Fanfiction Works

Ah. Never got into Warhammer. Too grimdark for me. So I would never have made the connection...

Daemonioros

Oh well. If we missed a bit of relationship development between Kara and Rylia here we can always make up for it later. Maybe with a good horny chapter thrown in as well. Fun interlude type chapter that shows the developments around Rylia not just through herself. I'm really interested in seeing just how hard the Turians and Humans push for a military solution to the Batarians.

Aeden Emrys

Thanks for another great update on this greatly interesting story! The ship looks great and I look forward to seeing much more like it! It's also great to see who our MC got as the captain, and how she has helped her and her daughters. I look forward to seeing what happens next!

twilightwanderer

That's another reason I specified Legends Mon Mothma, since there it took a massive unforeseeable extragalactic invasion to destabilize that New Republic. I do like the option you came up with though

Danielle Young

Excellent chapter~! Had a lot of fun reading it<3

Orchamus

Didn't realize I'd missed an update, musta accidentally swiped it. Anywho, loving the grabbing of Samara, now they have TWO den parents, Bruce and her!! Also bye Morinth, you shall not be missed
