Allows you to create drop tables which you can then call and the plugin will handle random drop generation. Also works in battle.

! SEE BOTTOM OF POST FOR UPDATES !

Hi all,

This alpha plugin allows you to create drop tables which you can then call and the plugin will handle random generation of a drop in the table. Each drop can have a custom message output to the game message window, drop variances, as well as custom drop percentage down to the hundredth of a percent. Supported drop types are item/weapon/armor/gold (including CGMZ Currency System currencies).

Drop tables can also call other drop tables. For example, if you have a "Regular Treasure" drop table, you could give it a small chance to drop something from the "Rare Treasure" drop table instead, which itself could call other drop tables such as "Rare Potions" or "Rare Gems".

To generate a drop from a table, you simply use the built in Generate Drop plugin command and provide it the ID of the drop table you want to generate a drop from, the plugin handles the rest.

As always, leave suggestions you have for more features you would like to see as part of this plugin here or in my Discord!

Happy RPG Making!

Alpha Update March 16, 2023: Hi all, this plugin has been updated today to add support for drop tables from enemy drops. You use a note tag (instructions in plugin) to add 1 or more drop tables to an enemy, and then they will drop loot from each of those tables the same way the drop tables work via the existing plugin command.

One exception is with CGMZ Currency System custom currencies. Currently, since the Currency System does not have enemy dropping currency implemented, this plugin can only handle basic gold and item/weapon/armor drops. If your drop tables include custom currencies, this will be treated as a "nothing" drop in battle for now.

This update adds support for [CGMZ] Currency System currencies in enemy drop tables. The custom currency drops were already implemented in previous versions, they just did not work with enemy drop tables and would be skipped due to [CGMZ] Currency System not supporting enemy drops. The currency system now supports enemy drops, and so this integration was able to be completed on this plugin's side of things now.

This update also causes the plugin to no longer crash when it gets an incorrectly setup plugin parameter, instead it will warn in the dev tools console and skip the invalid parameter. These warnings are still important to fix, and they should point you towards the parameter that has been set up incorrectly.

This update adds [CGMZ] Toast Manager integration for your drops. Now, when you use the plugin command to generate a drop, you can choose to show a Toast Window for the drop. Standard toast window features are supported, including windowskin, window tone, background style, width, height, and sound effect. The text shown in the toast window functions the same as the text shown through the game message window, so you should not need to change anything about your existing drops if you wish to swap over to using the toast window.

This update also added the option to turn the game message on or off. This allows you to not show any message, or use the toast window display instead. This may be preferable as it will not pause the player movement after getting a drop from a drop table if no game message is shown.

This version adds some variable parameters that can be set to the type, id, and amount of the drop. This will let you know the last drop, for use in any events you may have. For example, you could know if the drop table dropped 3 potions, and event some graphic or other message to match the generated drop. Please see documentation for the type variable.

Welcome to the Beta release of this plugin! If you are new here, this plugin allows you to generate a random drop from a table of possible drops, which can include currency, items, weapons, or armors. Drop tables can also drop something from another drop table. This works both in battle as well as via plugin command for things like treasure chest loot.

For existing users, this update changes the Drop Toast parameter to use the new toast manager preset id system. In your toast presets, you can use the string %txt to show the drop's text string. Since presets are more flexible, this update also now allows you to override the default drop toast with a specific toast id in your plugin commands, in case you want to use a special toast for certain plugin command calls.

This version adds an integration with [CGMZ] Floating Text, so you can now show a floating text instead of a toast or full message window to communicate what dropped to the player. You can use either the fallback floating text preset, or a specific preset given in the plugin command. See below gif for how it can look:

This update also makes this plugin work with any toast type, including the image or paragraph types. Previously, it only worked with text type toasts.

I love it! I will say, however, that testing it out has yielded mixed results. Only the first item in a given table is yielded, as proven by switching around the two drops I had designated in the test drop table. I have not tested it with multiple tables yet, and I will relay any relevant information if the need arises. Thank you for the work you do!

I tried to reply, and for some reason the comment didn't seem to work. It was user error on my end. I resolved it.
