RLS Career Overhaul v2.7.1
Hey everyone! v2.7.1 is focused on making Career Mode deeper, easier to understand and more dependable from one session to the next.
This release rolls up roughly three weeks of beta updates. It includes major additions to maintenance, tires, recovery, Engine Packages, skills, freeroam events, Market Watch, garages and the West Coast world, followed by a large community-driven reliability pass.
Thank you to everyone who tested the betas and shared saves, logs and detailed bug reports. That feedback directly shaped this release.
Update highlights
- Deeper vehicle ownership: Maintenance now follows the mileage of each component, while tire heat, wear, wet grip and water cooling provide more meaningful behavior.
- Roadside help and recovery: Repair spots have expanded service options, off-road recovery has dedicated locations, and recovery jobs are clearer and more reliable.
- Complete Engine Packages: Capture, store and reinstall an entire engine build instead of rebuilding it one part at a time.
- Reworked progression and events: Career skills are easier to follow, while burnouts, demolition derbies, sanctioned racing and AI competition have received major improvements.
- A living job economy: Market Watch now reflects player-driven demand, with clearer surges and better handling for parcel, material, BeamEats and trailer work.
- More West Coast to own and explore: New and reworked garages, improved travel tools, persistent weather and extensive world polish make the map feel more complete.
- A major reliability pass: Saving, Marketplace sales, car meets, police behavior, taxi work, loaners, traffic and mission transitions are all more dependable.
Maintenance, tires and roadside service
- Component-based maintenance: Wear now follows the mileage accumulated by each component rather than the total mileage of the vehicle.
- Vehicles no longer accumulate wear or failures for systems they do not have.
- Transmission maintenance now appears correctly on transaxle vehicles, and engine maintenance checks the correct core parts.
- The maintenance screen has been updated for clearer service information and better scrolling on vehicles with multiple axles.
- Tire thermals and wear have been reworked. Ordinary understeer causes far less abrasion, excessive temperature has a greater effect on wear, and cold tires are no longer penalized arbitrarily.
- Tire compounds now react differently on wet pavement. Sport, race and drag tires lose progressively more grip in the rain, while standard tires retain their normal behavior.
- Water now cools tires, with improved terrain and live tire-condition tracking.
- Disabling maintenance restores normal tire grip and pressure without overwriting the condition saved for when maintenance is enabled again.
- West Coast gas stations and configured service areas now offer roadside repair. Selected repair spots can also provide maintenance and tuning.
- Repair spots include a more detailed damage view so smaller problems are easier to understand.
- Repairing or replacing tires no longer respawns the vehicle or repairs unrelated damage.
- Purchased tires now receive the correct condition, and tires can be sold through My Parts.
- The Career MD-Series air system has been adjusted to prevent the persistent low-air warning.
- Hardcore profile creation now includes a maintenance-mode choice.
Recovery and winching
- Added dedicated off-road recovery locations and a new recovery area near the West Coast refinery.
- Recovery jobs now include a summary screen and a clearer phone icon.
- Target vehicles are selected more reliably by model and configuration.
- Removed the random missing-wheel roll. Recovery jobs containing vehicles that are already missing wheels now handle them more safely.
- Badly damaged targets, emptied cargo vehicles and unusual recovery configurations are handled more reliably.
- Roleplay vehicles are excluded from recovery assignments, and recovery targets no longer incorrectly receive insurance.
- Navigation now advances correctly between recovery jobs and avoids invisible roads around the recovery yard and quarry.
- Gooseneck trailers settle more cleanly when removed, using a temporary coupler lock to reduce physics problems.
- Universal Yankum winch ropes have been restored, with smoother and less elastic behavior.
Engine Packages, parts and tuning
- Added Engine Packages, allowing a complete installed engine—including its parts and tune—to be captured as one package.
- Packages can be named, stored and installed into another compatible vehicle from the garage computer.
- Added an updated package interface with isolated engine thumbnails and clearer vehicle context.
- Improved compatibility matching for unusual and modded engine names.
- Electric vehicles are excluded from Engine Packages where the system does not apply.
- Fixed package thumbnail capture, initial creation and engine visibility after storing a package.
- Parts and tuning saves are now processed in order, reducing the chance that a recent purchase is overwritten.
- My Parts, tuning and paint now close cleanly after an explicit save.
- Tuning tents and the drag pit lane are treated as tuning locations rather than owned garages.
Skills, profiles and freeroam events
- Reworked the Career skill system with clearer progression, improved phone pages and more readable unlock information.
- Skill XP now refreshes and displays more reliably.
- Updated Career profile cards to show more useful information, including balance, owned assets, skills, map and recent activity.
- New-career setup is available directly from the profile screen, with dedicated Career, Story, Custom and Advanced options.
- Standard careers now choose from a random eligible starting garage.
- Burnout competitions and demolition derbies received major gameplay and progression updates.
- Sanctioned racing received reliability fixes, including safer route selection when an event has no valid route.
- AI racers have updated aggression, and part-based eligibility filtering prevents unsuitable mod configurations from entering supported events.
- Reward messages now show applicable bonuses more clearly.
- West Coast freeroam content received new and updated off-road routes, including the Tough Truck beach course.
Market Watch, deliveries and the Marketplace
- Market Watch now uses player activity to create changing demand for work such as deliveries, taxi trips and BeamEats orders.
- High-demand labels, surge notifications, payout history and bonus rows now use the correct demand data.
- Market Watch has clearer tabs, keyboard navigation and phone-notification settings.
- Surge timing, cooldown behavior and NPC activity have been rebalanced.
- Material contracts can now require multiple material types, with improved delivery completion handling.
- Parcel generation, size weighting and payouts have been adjusted, including better first-load generation on larger maps.
- BeamEats drop-offs are more reliable on large maps and now award increased Logistics XP.
- B-train delivery jobs recognize the complete coupler chain.
- Loaner vehicles have been added to West Coast logistics sites, with safer spawning and more reliable cargo loading.
- Added an Edit Listing option to active Marketplace listings.
- Damaged vehicles can be listed and sold again. If a listed vehicle is damaged afterward, its existing offer can no longer be accepted.
- Marketplace and vehicle-shopping pages return to the top when changing pages, with additional page controls at the top of the Marketplace.
- Auction House vehicles follow the intended one-way route more reliably instead of reversing or cutting across the lot.
- Dealership discovery now saves correctly.
Garages, travel and West Coast improvements
- Added and opened more purchasable garages across West Coast, including new Horizon Estate homes, townhouses and smaller budget properties.
- Garage prices, capacities, descriptions, previews and lighting have received a broad balance and presentation pass.
- Starter and granted garages now include a Move Out option.
- Starter garages are no longer incorrectly free to purchase.
- Chinatown Overflow now has a standard garage computer and is priced at $65,000.
- Added a Travel Journal and improved map-travel markers, route ownership and destination handling.
- Declining a car-meet invite or finishing another navigation task no longer clears a newer active route.
- Persistent dynamic weather and the phone forecast provide a clearer view of changing West Coast conditions.
- Fog now appears only in the intended conditions and fades in instead of snapping into view.
- Weather, parked traffic and recurring vehicle calculations have been optimized to reduce avoidable stutter.
- West Coast received extensive terrain, collision, road, parking, lighting and scenery polish.
Police, taxi, loaners and car meets
- Police now require a clearer speeding margin before beginning a pursuit.
- Walking or retrieving a vehicle should no longer incorrectly trigger police attention.
- Loaner vehicles no longer receive a police role, and police AI is less likely to target the player while the player is working as an officer.
- Restored BeamNG's standard taxi system and removed the older duplicate cab implementation.
- Taxi work is correctly exempt from pursuits caused by the AI driver's infractions.
- Loaner vehicles spawn in the correct direction more consistently.
- Car meet club membership and scene reputation now persist correctly.
- Car meet purchases use the correct sales flow, and invite or navigation cleanup no longer interrupts unrelated routes.
Saving, missions, traffic and general reliability
- Restored five-minute autosaves while retaining the low-speed safety check before the save is written.
- Fixed repeated save requests and improved save behavior around garage computers.
- Hardened career loading against missing access points, unavailable dependencies and unusual vehicle IDs.
- Fixed save corruption and inventory-loss cases involving roadside repair, parcel data and world-spawned vehicles.
- Cross-map garage ownership and stored vehicle state now restore more reliably.
- Vanilla mission transitions no longer perform unnecessary vehicle snapshot work, reducing long loads in events such as Alder Drag.
- Traffic waits until the player has been restored before reloading after a vanilla mission.
- Navigation and traffic graph work have been separated to reduce lag and routing conflicts.
- Parked vehicles use more consistent placement rules and spread across available areas more naturally.
- Fixed deferred parked-traffic filling so parking areas populate more reliably.
- The drag-strip return road now has a 55 mph speed limit.
- The What's New screen now fits the window, keeps its button visible and waits until Career Mode is ready before accepting input.
v2.7.1 is the complete public release of the work tested throughout v2.7.0.1, v2.7.0.2 and v2.7.0.3.
Please keep the reports coming, especially if you can include what you were doing, the vehicle involved and whether the issue still happens after reloading your save.
Have fun with the update!
