I grew up near Gastonia it's probably the better area near my old town but it's still a shit hole.

Gastonia is the final stretch of shit hole before you reach the only bastion of civilization in the area and that's Charlotte. Charlotte is kind of shitty for a big city so the entire area pretty much just sucks from Gastonia to Charlotte. Gastonia is a mix between southern ass holes and ghetto shit hole definitely podunk.
