It may be unmemorable to you and that’s fine, but it wasn’t to a lot of people in the Latino community. Bad Bunny did a performance that was for us and filled with symbolism. Kicking it off with his big hit Titi Me Pregunto. Having Ricky Martin, a staple in every Latin mom’s playlist, sing Lo que le paso a Hawaii, a song expressing Bad Bunny’s fears about PR losing its culture and becoming another soulless tourist island like Hawaii. Flying the PR flag that used to be illegal. The power lines signifying PR’s black outs thanks to the lack of government aid. Him shouting out that America = all the countries in America not just the US. Ending it with his latest hit Debi Tirar Mas Fotos, a song about community and wishing he had been more present when he was with his loved ones (a song that resonates with a lot of Latinos who have immigrated or have had loved ones who left). Idk as a Latina who’s been scared shitless during this administration, it meant a lot to me and other Latinos to see him perform without compromising himself or his culture.
