I agree with everything Paul is saying except one thing, what if you can't leave the South? What if you're in an area where there's no economic opportunity... like the South? No money = no travel. But I also agree that better to flee than to die. If you gotta hoof it, better that than being dead.

Absolute batshit takes from Paul. You can see Tj get visibly stressed as he watches Paul alienate the audience and timeout people in chat. California is not some utopian paradise. You want to talk about disaster relief? What has California done with all it's wildfire funds? They certainly haven't made any strides in doing actual forest work and clearing out brush to prevent future ones. Also, in your imaginary Civil War 2 Scenario , not only do you have other states to contend with, you have good portions of rural California, and Mexico to worry about as well. Your view of "the South" is clearly that of a internet-brained neckbeard that has never really interacted with the Real-World in any meaningful way. And while I'm at it, can you also stop trying to push this cringe "hurr durr I'm actually autistic guys" to try and score mental illness brownie points a decade after it's in vogue.

While Paul has some fair points I think Phoebes point of view is more reasonable. If you reached a point where the government could do national divorce the government would likely be able to also try reconstruction 2. I feel like it would be better in your long term interests to try and forcibly reform the interior/south and make them functional than to try and make three(four with Alaska?) countries work. California and the eastern seaboard are powerful economically but you lose so many raw resources from the central part of the country. I also feel like Paul assumes things will always be the same and this is a failure of imagination. The ability of the south to be a corrupt shit hole is dependent on the ambivalence of the government. If you got to a point where the government was willing to do reconstruction 2 and actually enforce laws against corruption and hold people accountable they could deal with things like contractors disappearing public funds. It's in MY interest to side with Paul because our grain and agricultural products from the prairies and etc would become competitive with those of the great plains and etc, we could potentially profit from new trade deals with the Pacific seaboard, we could potentially make acquisitions or aggressive trade deals with the central parts of America. Despite the potential benefits of a national divorce for ME I think YOU would benefit more from reconstruction 2

I usually agree with TJ about common sense shit and he's technically right but hearing a person so fully enthralled in creature comfort and who's had money a lot of his adult life for an easy job say they gotta give them up is pretty ironic. You and Scotty stayed in that office for a while, I think that's the hardest you've struggled. Still had a place to stay, 2 actually at that time. I find it hard to believe that "Eh I don't really feel like it." TJ would flee and leave his creature comforts behind. I don't think you would, TJ.
