Of course TJ didn't look hard enough. Captain Video had a double meaning, Dumont manufactured and sold TVs as well as broadcasting so the name was a form of brand synergy, something like "tune into Captain Video on a state of the art Dumont Television video screen". Captain Video would also use his video screens to check in on his agents on earth as TJ mentioned. Now when TJ said it was a word that sounds futuristic that was the case but it was also a marketing move to push Dumont Televisions and a flimsy justification through the Captains use of "video screens". That's why he's called Captain Video.
