It's becoming less feasible in this economy to. They have reduced income and it's not going back up anytime soon so I don't see how they can continue as usual. Seems like they would benefit from taking every opportunity to get paid. This just isn't a vacation economy.

This isn't alarmist this is following the facts. Have you checked in on the war recently? Iran is done negotiating and now a second major shipping lane has been closed. There's absolutely nothing short of a completely new administration that could bring Iran back to the table for negotiations. Do you not understand that gas isn't this magical substance that flows forever? You're taking a lot for granted in these unprecedented times.

"Unprecedented time." Lmao not sure if you just got here, but this is just another week. We've perpetually been at war for oil for over 30 years. We've had an oil crisis every decade or so (1970s, 1980s, 1990, mid-2000s, 2020, now) for a litany of different reasons. I remember going to school in 2008 and my mom paying well over $5 a gallon. Adjust that for inflation that's ~$8/gallon. Even in California with the highest gas prices in the nation they're still almost $3 shy of that. But do go on about how the orange baboon is somehow gonna destroy America via gas prices

And I'll be flying to the meetup because I'm lazy. If I drove it would cost roughly $125 round trip at todays prices. I'm not saying everyone can afford that, but I'm far from rich

You keep pulling hypotheticals out to try and convince me first that the meetup isn't going to happen, then if it does I wont be able to afford it, and finally that they'll take the money and run if they did sell tickets. You think this is no different than the oil crisis of the 70s? You think a tyrant stacking every agency and office with loyalists and agrandizing himself while we struggle to even afford groceries has any historical precedent that isn't a nightmare for all of us? Of course it's all happened before and people suffered and died and struggled many many times before as countries have faced crisis time and time again. There's historical precedent alright but you seem to be the one unaware of it. This isn't anything new but that doesn't mean it's gonna be anything we want to experience either.
