The edge. (Patreon Early Access Version)
Lyrics:
I swear, every time I try to write something down I erase it
I know that there's something inside, but I don't know how to face it
If I could, I'd convert it into a melody, a book or a movie
Then I'd show it to someone, they'd smile and feel like they knew me
I wake up at 4 AM and try to write something deep
The blue light of the screen burns into my eyes and ruins my sleep
I try to forget about it, but it's still there the next day
Try to turn it into something but I can't
I sigh and try to relax, but I feel like I've lost
There's something important in my mind that I can't seem to get across
I don't know whether to laugh, scream, cry or do nothing
The seams of my soul are bursting, but there's no stuffing
There's a lot of pride in being good and enviable and standing tall
but it's nothing compared to the stark, inevitable doom of my horrible fall
And now I'm at the edge
Sometimes I have to ask "How well did I think this would go?"
I didn't tell anyone about my feelings, it's like I didn't want them to know
I'm mad that other people are more popular than me
But then I turn around and make it so my own success is all people see
Am I making things worse? Not really, I guess
Sometimes people need something happy when they're feeling depressed
But eventually I run out of energy and I have to stop
I start to disconnect, then I watch my momentum as it starts to drop
I can't turn nothing into something, I can't turn anything into anything else
And when I can, no one cares, and when they do, I'm nothing, I've lost myself
There's not much difference between small people and big people
When it comes down to it, we're all pretty much the same size
Sometimes you forget and you feel like you have to be something
But what is something? I ask the question and stand back in fear as I realize
I'm at the edge
I pause, I count to ten, I control my breathing
Maybe some crazy idea will come to me while I'm sleeping
I stop, I stretch, I check the time, I come back
What if I lose my balance and fall and die of a heart attack?
Alright, if I die, I die, but let's not think about it, okay?
Just live as if you're immortal, you can't really disprove it per se
Just breathe, relax, keep going, you're doing great
Any one who loves is worth a thousand times more than ten who hate
Now it's time to sit back and learn how to appreciate
Maybe another day
Hopefully that day is soon
And in the meantime, I'll try
Looking at the moon
Maybe another day
Hopefully that day is soon
And in the meantime, I'll try
Looking at the moon
And in the meantime, I'll try
Looking at the moon
