Episode 10 Update - 09/02/20 (Patreon)

Hello friends.  September is now here.  Here is the current status of the episode.

I wanted to make this update yesterday, however, I just pulled an all-nighter (on the night of the 31st and through the entirety of yesterday) in order to finish the back half of "A" and was in no mental shape to coherently write an update.  I really didn't want to be behind schedule going in to this month, knowing how much there still was to do, and refused to keep working on "A" into September.

So now, the back half of "A" is complete.  There are some parts of it that could still use polish, but the same can be said for much of "B", and probably for the other completed sequences if I really looked at them again.  Rather than obsessing over the smaller details, I'll be going over the little things when I do a "polish" pass after everything is in a more completed state.

A separate animator is still working on the front half of "A" and should turn something in to me by the end of the week.  Afterword, he'll likely be doing my corrections, and then after that, the ancillary characters of the scene will need to be animated.  I'll try to utilize my animation resources as much as possible depending on where we get to in the near future, but he'll probably be helping on "F" while I get others working on finishing "A".  "A" will have the most hands on it, so I'm glad I attacked it so early.

For September, I want to take a big bite out of F.  Finishing "F" completely would be the most optimistic goal, but getting it 70% done is a more realistic.  Right now, I need to finish up the Layout Pass and get to discussing and developing the more action scene more completely with a storyboarder.

I think we did pretty good with August.  If met my goal of getting through with "A".  All in all I did 4800 frames completely, as well as setup and complete choreography for the other 3700.  F being around 9000 is daunting, but I am hopeful we can take a bite out of it, as now it seems the episode is about 40% done.

"F" is going to be the true test of getting things done efficiently.  It is the meat of the episode.  How well I do this month has the potential to determine whether or not I can release this on time.  Throughout all of this, my motivation to finish has not wavered and the episode is in good shape.  I will continue to push through.
