Okay so it wasn't the Christopher Nolan trilogy.. but it was STILL 3 HOURS OF EPICNESS!

The world building and the portrayal of Gotham was a 10/10 in this film!

Thank you guys for picking this gem! Is this a universe? What do we watch after this? Is it stand alone?

To answer your questions: 1.) This universe is its own thing. 2.) This September, we’re getting a Penguin limited series on HBO Max.

TheOctobers

you're the best, isn't there a second movie to this one being made?

Jesse Lee

Have you seen Identity staring John Cusack? Could be a quick and easy one off. Twisty and suspenseful.

Aldo Gonzales

Yes, and it’s set for October 2nd 2026. In the meantime, you guys are familiar with James Gunn through his work on Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s working on a new DC Universe. Have you seen his version of the Suicide Squad yet? It’s actually pretty good. It was released in 2021 although it was planned for 2020 but the pandemic happened. James Gunn’s Suicide Squad also leads to a successful spinoff series on HBO Max. I won’t say what it’s called, but each episode gets better than the last and that’s very rare.

Jonny

Man this is why I stay subscribed. Lol. Let's see this reaction

TheOctobers

this was stressful and fun at the same time! loved it honestly!

Chris

This was the most boring Batman I've ever seen. Only the reaction made it worth watching again.

Teej

The second part of your comment is wrong. The Penguin series is set 1 week AFTER the 2022 Batman, and serves as a bridge into the next movie. It is not a prequel.

Sam Fisher

This is an early Batman. Precisely Year 2.

Sam Fisher

I want to know when we watching Man of Steel, BVS ultimate, Wonder Woman & ZS Justice League. Lol. I’m ready. But I’m glad ya’ll are on DC films.

blvckriot

Yes I’m ready for the dc journey!!

Sam Fisher

So apparently. The bat on the front of his suit is made from the gun that killed his parents. The gun broken and melted down to form the bat symbol.

Sam Fisher

They didn’t see him as a hero but as a vigilante. But after he went into the water to lead them out, he was seen more as a hero.

Jonny

Honestly this was a great film. Over the years the Riddler has been portrayed as more serious and less gimmicky. So having him be this dark was well done. I think Catwoman was perfect in this. This is exactly how her relationship is with Batman. Always on and off and not exactly on the same page. But if there was ever a woman Batman would settle down with, it would be Catwoman. It was really good man. I think in the sequel to this Mister Freeze is the villain and if done correctly that too will be an amazing film. Mister Freeze is an extremely tragic DC comics character. So if its him I hope they portray him well.

Jonny

Also Joker Folie A Deux is coming out this year with Joker and his love interest and fellow villain Harley Quinn. I look forward to your reaction to that

Facts they need to get on this

Great Reaction! Are you guys gonna start the DCEU soon?

Batman Begins (the first film of the Nolan trilogy) was released in 2005. So 18 years later rebooting isn't that immediate. The Tim Burton Batman was 1989, so that was only 16 years between reboots/origin stories. I imagine there will be a new Batman in the 2030s as well. It's just the way they do it!

Caleb

They keep making these because Batman is DCs most profitable hero. Up to this point their other hero’s haven’t really worked in live action.

Jonny

Well wonder woman and Superman worked to some degree but I see your point. I think if DC made more grounded films focusing on street level characters their live action movies would do well. Give us Wildcat, Shiva, Green Arrow. Make it street level, gritty and compelling. It would work.

This is the most accurate portrayal of the original batman... he's a detective... not a super hero. my favorite part was how TIRED he looked as Bruce... because he's up all night getting his ass beat.

TC24

Don’t forget Ben Affleck was before Pattinson lol. It is a lot but I ain’t complaining, give me more Batman. & James Gunn DCU Batman will probably come out by 2028 honestly.

TC24

I’ll never be made at more Batman reactions. But we gotta get Man Of Steel for your next superhero movie reaction. Superman is the OG

Tyrone Bigguns

im excited about the new animated series coming on Prime starting August 1st. Looks bad ass.

If you didn't realize it, the actor who played Gordon in this is Jeffrey Wright. You should know his voice, he is also the Watcher from What If? But, if you really want to see him play a great role, he is in a show called Westworld from HBO.

Christian

The question will be do they watch snyder cut or josstice league lol

Christian

This is probably the best Batman movie imo just because of how great gotham looks and feels. It's obviously hard to discount the Dark Knight because it epic but it does just feel like NYC and not gotham. The biggest complaint in this movie to me is the portrayal of Bruce Wayne but its easily explainable as its only year 2 of being Batman and he is angry wanting vengeance. I would hope with the next movie or 2 they do in this universe we see him grow and become the more sociable Bruce we are used to. I can not wait for the Penguin series, I think it could be great. Colin Farrell is an incredible actor for that role, cant even tell its him

Evan Moore

“Kurt cobains favorite color is red” was that an Eminem reference??

I love this version of Batman mainly because it keeps to the darkness of the characters. In DC Batman and his villains are the darkest characters in that universe and this movie captures that perfectly. The villains in C Nolans version are dark too but something about this movie hits different. Also, do you guys have any idea when you'll be getting to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? That's one of the best MCU movies after Endgame IMO. It's also directed by Sam Raimi who directed the Toby Macguire Spider-Man and the Evil Dead movies. Can't wait for the next movie reaction! Have a good one guys!

Chase Schleich

This film is it's own thing, no universe, but they are doing a Penguin spin off show (I'll post a link to the trailer on YouTube at the bottom of this) and they're working on the sequel to this film right now. They're also discussing more spin off shows all based off this version of Batman. Very awesome looking Penguin show trailer. It'll be on Max (HBO) later this September: https://youtu.be/D2uSwItbBAg?si=4lDYmc4e0r9JjAfX

If you green lit a project and then someone hands you a billion dollars, would you keep green lighting that project? Of course you would. As long as that person keeps walking in and handing you that billion dollars, you'll keep green lighting it. That's Batman. Every time WB makes a new Batman movie, dump trucks full of money back up to their front door. If those dump trucks keep coming, then they'll keep making more Batman films.

Surprised (I don’t think) anyone mentioned it here yet, but the Joker originally actually made an appearance in a deleted scene from the late first/early second act where Batman visits him in Arkham for consultation on Riddler’s pathology. Very similar vibes to Clarice and Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. It basically establishes that Batman and he already clashed in his first year and that’s how he ended up in Arkham. It’s only a ~5:00 minute clip, so you may want to even consider reacting to it here 🥺😉😌… https://youtu.be/FZNWLGL_CxI?si=sR1gug-QmGjNRP06

Isaiah

there is a deleted joker scene

Sam Fisher

It has worked. Remember ARROWVERSE

Clinton Brown

Y’all should watch The Penguin series coming out on September 19th on HBO/Max. It’s start after The Batman and it will lead into The Batman Part II

Adam

Yall should check out The Penguin, it’s in this same universe, and shows his rise in Gotham
