You guys are really putting off that hateful 8 reaction 😂 Ik the 3 hours seems aggressive but just like green Mile it flies by

TheOctobers

we are getting to it, we just haven't even remotely caught up with Tarantino on YT so we were catching up on some other things

Harvey

Ah that makes sense

Hey 👋 guys since you already saw gotg holiday special, the next one is antman and the wasp quantiumania the first start of phase 5

Josh Viz

This is one of the only movies where I fell asleep in the theater watching it 🙈

Aldo Gonzales

Hey, guys. I have a TON of fun facts about this movie. I hope you’ll take the time to read this comment. Sorry that it’s so long, but I was so excited to finally share this with you. 1.) First, as you might have guessed there were some changes made to the original script. I'll start by saying that the first Black Panther movie was a father-son story told from the son's point of view. This sequel was originally meant to be a father-son story as well, but this time it would've been told from the father's perspective. With that said, T'Challa's son Toussaint would've had a more prominent role. This is where it gets awkward. In the original plot, T'Challa returned only to find out that Nakia had moved on and married a Haitian man. So he would have to struggle with co-parenting. Three years later, T'Challa celebrates his son's eighth birthday. Next thing we know, Namor surfaces into the upper world and T'Challa had to go save the world once again. (By the way, Nakia was trying to call Shuri over and over to explain why she didn't attend T'Challa's funeral. She wanted to introduce Shuri to her nephew, but she was mad at her for not attending and decided to ghost her instead. Ramonda was about to tell her daughter about Toussaint at the campfire when Namor appeared.) Valentina's role was heavily reduced as well. She would have been a secondary antagonist. This would've led to a three way rivalry between Wakanda, the States, and Talokan respectively led by T'Challa, Valentina, and Namor. Co-writer and director Ryan Coogler goes further into detail in the movie's official podcast. Here’s the link if you'd like to listen: https://open.spotify.com/show/25H3VGTKQUo1ImawOBVbvD?si=n3TRVNKnTv-Dls-fadXiGA 2.) There definitely wasn’t a dry eye on set. A lot of the actors would often cry while filming. So whenever we see them cry on scene, that’s also the actors mourning their co-star and friend. 3.) In the comics, Namor was also a member of the first incarnation of the illuminati - the group of heroes that we met in Multiverse of Madness. They decided to not include him in the Illuminati that we met in Multiverse of Madness as they had planned to put him in this movie instead. Iron Man, Namor, and Doctor Strange were respectively replaced by Captain Carter, Captain Marvel (Carol's friend Maria Rambeau), and Baron Karl Mordo. 4.) Atlantis is Namor’s home in the comics. He was created before Aquaman, but they changed the name of his nation so they could make him as unique as possible. 5.) Next, I wanna acknowledge W’Kabi’s absence. Daniel Kaluuya said he wasn't able to reprise his role due to scheduling conflicts. He was busy working on Jordan Peele's movie Nope. Director Ryan Coogler confirmed that W'Kabi is currently banished to the outskirts of Wakanda. In the Latin Spanish dub, Ramonda said he's in prison. However, there is some concept art of what he would've worn if he did appear. 6.) Almost two years ago, South African comedian Trevor Noah stepped down from hosting the Daily Show on Comedy Central. His co-star Danai Gurira was one of the last people he interviewed before he stepped down. However, he reprised his role as the voice of the Wakandan A.l. Griot. He also had more lines this time around. 7.) A few days after the movie premiered, M'Baku's actor Winston Duke said this on Twitter: "The intention for M'Baku in this film is to serve as the vent for a pressure cooker & that's what influenced this improvisational gem, amongst others." That gem was calling Okoye a bald-headed demon. I cracked up so hard in the theater I went to see this movie at. This was easily the funniest moment in the entire film. Also, notice that he's munching on a carrot? He did say the Jabari tribe are vegetarians. However, they're actually pescatarians because they have fishers. One of them rescued T'Challa in the first installment. In all seriousness though, M'Baku stood out for me the most. He in particular had some major character development in my opinion. Before he took that massive blow from Namor, he wasn't looking before leaping. If it weren't for that chest plate he was wearing, that push would ve killed him. Then after Ramonda died, he had a lot to consider. Those traits and experiences are what will help him become the proper king that Wakanda needs going forward. He also realized that it was time that he and his warriors upgraded their armor. They started wearing chest plates made out of vibranium. 8.) One particular thing that I like about this movie was that we got not one but TWO indigenous actresses from Guatemala. María Mercedes Coroy (Namor's mom) and Doña María Telón (the elder Nakia spoke to) are both from Santa María de Jesús in the Sacatepéquez Department. My parents are from Quetzaltenango. My mom knows both actresses from a 2015 movie they did together called Ixcanul (ish-ka-nool). That word is from a Mayan dialect called kaq'chikel which is native to Sacatepéquez. In English, the word ixcanul translates to volcano. 9.) The film's score includes edited versions for some of the soundtrack's songs, but they didn't add the film's version of Alone by Burna Boy which includes an excerpt of Stormy's Interlude at the start of the song. In the soundtrack, both songs are separate. Senegalese musician Baaba Maal who provided vocals for some of the background music in Black Panther 1 and 2 also made a cameo singing at T'Challa's funeral. That reminds me: there's a three-part documentary series called Voices Rising on Disney Plus. We get to see how the score and the soundtrack for this film were put together. 10.) Josué Maychi, the actor who portrayed the shaman in the Zama flashback, was also brought in as a dialect coach for the cast. He taught them Yucatec Mayan. 11.) The next fact is a big one, but have you ever heard of two film techniques called dry-for-wet and wet-for-wet? Those are two different ways of filming underwater scenes. Dry-for-wet is basically when the actors pretend they're underwater when they're actually filming on dry land. Wet-for-wet, on the other hand, is when they actually have to film underwater. 12.) Stunt coordinator Chris Denison was the swimming instructor for the cast. He taught them how to free dive. Out of the entire cast, Mabel Cadena, the actress who portrayed Namora, was able to hold her breath the longest with a record of six minutes and thirty seconds. Chris believes that she would've gotten to ten minutes if he had another week to coach her. If Mabel returns to portray Namora in the future, that can still likely happen. 13.) Tenoch Huerta got to reprise his role as Namor for the Latin Spanish dub. He’s one of the few actors to reprise their MCU role in their native language. Aside from Tenoch, we also have Pom Klementieff voicing Mantis in Canadian French and Daniel Brühl voicing Helmut Zemo in German. 14.) And finally, Riri may not have been allowed to take her suit, but that doesn't mean we've seen the last of both of them. Her superhero codename is Ironheart. That's also the name of her upcoming Disney Plus show. Production has been affected by the strikes and some reshoots, but they should have it ready by this time next year. Dominique Thorne originally auditioned for the role of Shuri in Black Panther 2018. She even did a screen test with Chadwick. So when they wanted to incorporate Riri into the film, Dominique was their first and only choice. Furthermore, around the time they were wrapping up Wakanda Forever and before Dominque started working on her Ironheart series, she got a FaceTime call from Robert Downey Jr himself. He gave her his firm belief that Riri should be able to shine on her own terms and not be a direct copy of Iron Man. So with all that said, you have concluded phase four. Welcome to phase five.

Lizzie✨

This movie was a beautiful tribute to a great man, RIP Chadwick❤️‍🩹

Please please please, watch Haunting of Hill House on Netflix!! It’s the perfect show for the spooky season. 👻🎃

The long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3!!!

Adrian Rhodes

2 things: 1. They really should have recast T'challa. 2. Angela Bassett was completely robbed of her Oscar for this role! Smh

blvckriot

She was completely robbed so annoying!

Jonny

Namor the Submariner is basically Marvel's version of Aquaman. But Namor came first. He has a long history of clashing with the surface world and is actually an extremely strong mutant in the comics. I think they did him justice here at least in terms of the little changes they made to his story. Overall this movie is a solid 7/10. And the girl RiRi is Ironheart in the comics.

reactive1

Y’all just met Marvel’s oldest mutant, Namor.

TC24

Just want to point out the Ancestors didn’t abandon Shuri, she never believed in the spiritual side of their culture in the first place so she was never gonna see them. Like Mbaku said she was an intelligent child who scoffs at tradition. That’s why Killmonger was the only ancestor available to her because he didn’t grow up in wakanda’s traditions either.

TheOctobers

wow that makes sense! thanks for clarifying!

TheOctobers

recasttt... hmm who could it have been!

Adrian Rhodes

There's a few I can think of: Aldis Hodge John Boyega John David Washington Damson Idris

Peter K

I'm OK with the intro of his son, it opens up better possibilities than recasting Boseman, which would have been sad.

Adrian Rhodes

It was going to be sad regardless. No need to make a creative decision based on emotions. They recast actors who have passed away all the time.

Way back in 1939, Atlas comics (which would become Marvel Comics years later) introduced a hero/villan named Namor, The Sub-Mariner in a comic titled "Marvel Comics". It also introduced the original Human Torch (not Johnny Storm. This guy was an android). Two years later they introduced a new hero named Captain America in 1941. In the 1950's superhero comics were out of fashion and only the DC books were selling (like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman). Then, a young guy named Stan Lee joined Atlas comics (then called Timely Comics) and created The Fantastic Four in 1961 and brought back the Human Torch, but this guy was a teenager named Johnny Storm and had no relation to the original Torch. Anyway, in FF #4 Stan brought back the Sub-Mariner, and he has been intertwined with the FF and Dr. Doom from the get go (Timely Comics changed their name to Marvel Comics with FF#2.) Meanwhile, in 1962, Stan was on a roll and created The Avengers (Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Ant-man and the Wasp). In Avengers #4 Stan brought back Captain America and had him lead the team ever since. In 1970, Dr. Strange, Namor and Hulk teamed up to form The Defenders, later joined by the Silver Surfer and Valkyrie. Team members came and went but the main core of the group were always Dr. Strange, Namor (sometimes), Hulk and Valkyrie. Namor and Cap fought Nazis together during WWII with the original Human Torch and called themselves, The Invaders. So, Namor (who is white in the comics, not hispanic or Aztec or whatever this movie portrays him as) has a Looooooooooong history with Marvel and it will be interesting to see where they go with the character in the future.

Dayvon148

Just throwing it out there the second movie was originally have both of them as black panther, that would’ve been so cold😮‍💨

Can you believe I only realized there was a post-credits scene when I started watching reactions to the movie? I absolutely love it and they did such a beautiful tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Great reaction guys! Now patiently waiting for the next episode of Squid Game and Harry Potter (which is totally going to win)! 🙈

Shirlene Wright

I think this was a great tribute to Chadwick. The fact that his coworkers never knew he was sick while filming the other Marvel movies. There were so many kind moments and I appreciate that. I cried so many times. I know there were a lot of difficulties during filming. I really enjoyed this reaction. Thank You.

TheOctobers

we agree! A great tribute! Really enjoyed this one honestly!

Gio Bellisario

That moment of silence in the theater hit so hard 😮‍💨

Cmon now, think of the huge number of people that voted for it in the Tarantino poll.......all TWO of us!!!! We demand satisfaction!!! Grrrrr

The United Nations isn’t just the “western” nations. Every sovereign nation in the world, 193 of them, except for one belongs to the UN. The one that doesn’t, Vatican City, has observer status. The only other non-UN members are places like Taiwan and Kosovo that aren’t recognized by everyone as a sovereign nation.

Jim Schmitz

Totally agree with your assessment. 'Nuf said.

Emili

100% agree with everything yall said about this movie! You can tell the grief in this movie is real. Also Shuri was so cool and I can't wait to see more of her and Namor! I think they'll be cool af in an avengers type team up film. Also I am definitely in the minority, but I really like quantumania as a fun little time so I'm excited 😊 Phase 5 starts all the connectivity yall have been looking for!

Jason Pike

So, I don't think this has been mentioned, but there has been so many long comments and replies on this one. But I just wanted to point out, that the scene between Queen Ramonda and Shuri in the beginning that was interrupted by Namor. Was probably going to be Queen Ramonda telling Shuri about Toussaint aka Prince T'Challa.

K'Banj

I know Namor is much older, but I was hoping for a union of both nations through Namor and Shuri! I love Shuri and Wakanda, but I am on Namor and Talokan's side here. Their existence was put in jeopardy because of T'Challa's choice to expose Wakanda, and then Queen Romanda, acting emotionally entitled, started and escalated the war with Namor, which resulted in her own death. I love Riri/Iron Heart, but it is senseless for the Wakandans to choose to protect 1 american who's invention threatens an entire civilization that was already at risk because of Wakanda over that civilization tied to Wakanda by the same resource and what I feel is an obligation to help protect them since it was Wakanda that risked their exposure to begin with. I was (and still am) so enamored with Namor throughout this entire movie, that the only time that spell is broken is when he punches a hole in Mbaku's breast plate. Seeing the other character I love get hurt temporarily lifts that Namor spell, but once I see he is ok the spell returns...
