Spaceballs is a classic but does not have to be watched along with the order of the trilogies, although we understand it's about the era. Rogue One would naturally be next chronologically, but I'd wait on that one too since it is even newer than the prequels (fx and year wise) Go on with the anticipated prequels then rogue one which was great but made to answer a long time plot question fans had in the OT. If you want the question, set up a poll to see if patreon would be cool with posting it (no spoilers to the movie itself of course), or maybe look up the question online though I think the former would be better. Let's get the prequels started! 😆

Like all Mel Brooks work, Spaceballs is severely overrated and it's been propagandized into remaining relevant. It's funny, sure, you should watch it, but don't expect much. I would watch it now rather than later because obviously it has no references to the prequels. Call it a palate cleanser.

The reason I say “Spaceballs” is that it doesn’t at all spoof anything from the prequels or the sequels since it came out in 87. But if you’re skipping to SW, you do them in release order. You do not put Rogue One next. 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, Rogue One, Solo, etc.

Absolutely right, I made a mistake in my post. I was thinking (Chronologically going from Lucas StarWars to Disney as if memory serves (without looking it up) Rogue One was Disney's first motion picture StarWars outing, correct me if I'm wrong.), however yes, story wise, it falls chronologically between Episode 3 and 4.

Mel Brook's best movies had Gene Wilder in them, The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein...all classic comedies.

In my opinion it’s best to stick with the actual Star Wars story since you guys are already locked in and before you start Disney’s reset of Star Wars movies like Rogue One and Solo would be better to watch next then afterwards you can watch whatever but those are the Golden Apples you want to pick
