So. Things happened pretty quickly after the post I made yesterday. After getting him home from canceled surgery, his overall health and behavior declined (and had been worrying in the days leading up to the surgery). Not wanting him to linger when he clearly wasn't himself and would only continue to fade, we spent one more night with him and then said goodbye today.

I cannot believe, and continued to be floored by, your generosity. We've been under general stress and tribulation for months now, with emergencies popping up constantly and not enough resources to fix them. Not only did you take care of Pretty Boy and my urgent dental needs in full, but you also essentially covered my other health issue that I'll have to get taken care of in the next month or two. That's his care and mine, all in one go. This is the first overwhelmingly good thing that has happened to us in months, and the only bright spot in our new year so far. We'll get into more later, but for now: thank you.
