This week's POSE OF THE WEEK is 'Dandasana Pose' ๐ง๐พโโ๏ธ
Dandasana = staff pose.
You can think of two sticks in this pose...our legs being one stick, and our upper body being the other.
Dandasana is the foundation of basically all seated poses (just like 'Tadasana' is the foundation of all standing poses).
Dandasana helps to:
- strengthen our back muscles
- improves our core strength
- opens and stretches the chest and facilitates thoracic breathing
- massages and tones our kidneys and waist.
You will find all the material, including the tutorial video and instructional photos, in our Dropbox folder via the link below

I have also added the tutorial video to my 'Online Naked Yoga' showcase folder over on Vimeo, via the link below

If youโre able to see this post, you have access to the current password also; it just means you need to read my most recent posts for the updated password.
Dandasana is great for helping to improve our overall posture.
Whilst it looks like a very simple pose, it's a little more challenging than it may seem.
If you find yourself struggling to hold the pose, feel free to relax in between trying it again.
I have provided some modifications in this tutorial to better assist those of you who have tight hamstrings or postural issues (have a blanket and block handy if this is you โบ๏ธ).
Enjoy this foundational pose and observe how practicing it also helps to improve the rest of your seated poses.
Namaste,
Jessa
