I forgot why I sing. How music is an extension of myself. A way for me to express myself when no other way seems to be enough.
Throughout my childhood years I grew more and more quiet. Partly because it seemed to be the safer way but also because no one would listen. Most of the time I seemed invisible.
Except for when I would sing. Rooms would go completely quiet and I was heard. Not only did they see me, but they heard a raw side of myself that was unfiltered and directly expressed from my heart. I started to build my entire identity around my singing. It caused me to be terrified to sing because singing badly now meant that I wasn't good enough. That I as a person wasn't worth to be heard anymore.
I forgot why I enjoyed to sing. I forgot that it was a way for my entire soul to dance with the tunes I could somehow create just by expressing how I felt. A way to help make sense of the world that so often scared me. To sing for myself and then share it, is what I'm finding back to. I'm opening up to be vulnerable, open, free. And maybe by doing so can I allow other people to make sense of their world too. Help them feel their souls dance to the song.
I recorded this tonight and I want to share it with you guys, I hope you like it. <3
